This exhibition explores how artists have been inspired by landscapes, nature and the seasons. Imaginary and mystical places have provided the stimulus for several of the exhibited artists; others have been inspired by Westcountry locations. Some touch on themes of spirituality and paganism. The results are pieces which are often abstract, sometimes representational and occasionally other-worldly.
The exhibition features David Bomberg, Edward Burra, Prunella Clough, Terry Frost, Patrick Heron, Roger Hilton, Peter Lanyon, Richard Long, Rachel Lowe, George Shaw and Clare Woods. In...

Much has been published recently over the extraordinary circumstance by which the Brazilian national team’s first ever match was played against our own Exeter City 100 years ago.
A fact like that is worth celebrating, isn’t it? And celebrating is what fans of the club intend to be doing at St James Park on Sun 20 July starting at 2pm.
Everyone associated with the club is hoping to be joined by as many people from this great city as possible.
Up at the Park there will be sideshows, face painters, a magician, barbecue food and the bars will be open!

Police in Torquay are appealing for witnesses following an assault on a fisherman. The victim, a man, aged in his 30s was fishing off Hopesnose Torquay at around 6.30am on Sunday 13 July in his 19ft Orkney fastliner boat. It appears that the boat was deliberately targeted by a shore based fisherman by ‘casting’ his rod in the boats direction.
On this occasion the victim was struck and a hook was embedded in his left cheek. There were a large number of shore based fisherman in the area at the time and police are appealing to them for information to identify the offender who is...
A young Exeter City side were defeated 1-0 in their first pre-season fixture, when Reading were visitors at St James Park.
The result was never the priority though, with fitness and performance the more pressing concerns – and City certainly impressed on those fronts.
Ryan Edwards’ early goal for the Royals was the difference in the scoreline, and somehow goalkeeper Mikkel Andersen kept the City attack at bay after the break despite being put under plenty of pressure from a potent front-line.
Both managers named separate XIs for each half – for City, only Christy...
Exeter City manager Paul Tisdale has confirmed that Scot Bennett has been named the new Exeter City captain.
Pat Baldwin, who captained the team in the other half, will continue his role as vice-captain.
Following the announcement, Tisdale said that the versatile 23-year-old is ready for his new responsibilities.
Scot has regularly worn the armband for the Grecians throughout youth levels and in reserve fixtures, and got his first chance to skipper the first-team in the absence of Danny Coles and Pat Baldwin at Accrington last season.
