Will Chudley says it’s vital Exeter Chiefs look to make the most of their encouraging start to the new Aviva Premiership season when they play host to Harlequins on Sunday (2pm).

The Chiefs have already secured away wins at London Welsh and Gloucester, whilst a star-studded Leicester Tigers were pushed all the way in their opening home game of the season before the Midlanders nabbed a narrow 25-22 victory.

Chudley knows all too well the Chiefs will need to be at their best if they are to maintain their position amongst the division’s frontrunners, but he says confidence is...

Bike Shed Theatre, Exeter

Outside, a storm is raging. Inside, a darkened room preserves the fragments of a past underneath dust sheets. Sea-shells, voices, yellowing postcards: the flotsam and jetsam of a childhood spent beach-combing on the coast of Brittany. Stories emerge: of treasure found in tidal ponds, and women metamorphosing into serpents. But beneath the floorboards, the creaking groans of whales warn of unsettled futures.

In a sparkling one-woman performance that blends poetry with theatre, Anglo-Breton poet Claire Trévien navigates a shifting maritime landscape. Memory and myth from the Celtic...

Former Grecian Daniel Nardiello was twice a goalscorer in that game at Gigg Lane after coming off the bench – indeed Bury’s potent attack has been a telling factor...

Alien life may be out there!

A pioneering new study has shown that water found on Earth predates the formation of the Sun – raising hopes that life could exist on exoplanets, the planets orbiting other stars in our galaxy.

The ground-breaking research set out to discover the origin of the water that was deposited on the Earth as it formed.

It found that a significant fraction of water found on Earth, and across our solar system, predates the formation of the Sun. By showing that water is ‘inherited’ from the environment when a star is born, the international team of scientists believe other...
