The Co-operative food store in Uffculme, Cullompton, is set to re-open next week (Thursday, 2 October) following a near £200,000 investment to create a new shopping experience for the community.
The new-look store in The Square has been redefined with a new kiosk, an increased bakery range and, a focus on meal ideas, healthy, fresh and chilled foods and, essentials.
The store is also pioneering a new role, known as a Community Pioneer, with members of the food store team, Karen Clench and Rachael Margetts, also working to foster involvement in community activities.
The Institute of Directors has expanded its South West team with the appointment of Hannah Goodenough as head of Business Development for the region.

New research led by King’s College London and involving the University of Exeter Medical School suggests that many women under 30 with cervical cancer are diagnosed more than three months after first having symptoms. In many cases this was because they did not recognise the symptoms as serious.
The study is published in the British Journal of General Practice.
Professor Willie Hamilton, co-author from the University of Exeter Medical School, says: “This study matters as we know screening in the much younger age groups is problematic- so we have to try and diagnose young...
Rob Baxter’s calls for Exeter Chiefs to re-establish their Sandy Park fortress were well and truly answered as his side swot aside the attentions of visiting Harlequins.
Having only won two of their last nine league games on their own turf and just seven out of 17 matches in all competitions in the last 12 months, the Chiefs could not have picked a better time to rediscover the winning formula.
From start to finish, Baxter’s braves had too much for their rivals.
Thomas Waldrom, Jack Yeandle and Henry Slade all crossed for tries, whilst the boots of Slade and Gareth...
Exeter City overturned league leaders Bury at St James Park, recording a 2-1 win to make it three wins on the bounce.
An early Matt Grimes free-kick had Exeter off to a flyer, but Tom Soares’ rocket after an hour had the teams all square.
But a close-range effort from substitute Jimmy Keohane with less than ten minutes remaining was the difference at the end, giving Exeter City’s hard-working side a well-earned three points at the Park.
Craig Woodman’s injury kept him out of the matchday squad for the meeting with Bury,...
Exeter Chiefs welcome back Jack Nowell and Phil Dollman into their starting line-up for Sunday’s Aviva Premiership clash with Harlequins at Sandy Park (2pm).
Both Nowell and Dollman appeared off the bench in last week’s 25-22 win at Gloucester, but head coach Rob Baxter is keen to see the duo in action from the outset as the Chiefs look to record a third win in four starts this season.
England international Nowell has not started a league game since he injured a shoulder during Exeter’s defeat at Leicester Tigers last March, while Dollman has also had to sit on the...

An 80 tonne crane has taken up residence on Exmouth Pierhead as nearly £1 million of work starts to replace the sea wall.
This is the final element of infrastructure work in the redevelopment of Exmouth Quay.
The wall replacement is a necessary first step before construction work starts in earnest early next year on a five storey development of 14 waterside apartments.
Eagle One Homes has commissioned Devon firm, Teignmouth Maritime Services, to undertake the piling work. Over the next six weeks nearly 400 tonnes of new steel piling will be lifted into place to...
