Exeter Foundation Big Walk returns

The Exeter Chiefs will be swapping their rugby boots for walking shoes next May, as they pledge to take part in popular fundraising event the Exeter Foundation Big Walk.

The 10-mile sponsored walk, which last year raised thousands for the Exeter Foundation, returns on May 2nd 2015.

Sponsored by South West Communications, Northcott Beaton, Santander and The Landrover Experience, The Big Walk starts and finishes at recently reopened Sandy Park, and takes in a flat, scenic route through the River Exe Valley.

An examination of the work of Roald Dahl and how his childhood experiences might have influenced his writing. The show, performed by Nick Wood, will compare events described in tales from Roald Dahl’s childhood with characters in his books. He suggests how we all have something within ourselves to write about and that these stories should be told. The show will include the use of puppets inspired by the illustrations of Quentin Blake, and some audience participation.

Devon's best kept village winners

Winners of the county and district best kept village competition received their awards from the Chairman of East Devon District Council, Councillor Graham Godbeer, last week.

Best Kept Village is a long-established county-wide competition run by the Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE) and sponsored by Mole Valley Farmers.
