On Saturday 6th December we will be abseiling dressed as Santa off the Princesshay car park in Exeter and we would love you to join us in doing so!

We are abseiling this Christmas to raise awareness of youth homelessness as well as vital funds for YMCA Exeter housing projects to continue.

Forgotten 12 to be remembered

For 100 years they have gone somewhat unnoticed, but 12 former Exeter Rugby Club players and officials are to be officially remembered with a new commemorative plaque at Sandy Park.

The lives of the forgotten few will be highlighted in a special memorial service which will take place at the stadium on Armistice Day, Tuesday 11 November, at 10.30am.

Violent storms batter Exeter

Residents were evacuated from their homes in Exeter after violent storms wreaked havoc in the city.

Monsoon-like conditions turned roads into rivers as electric blue lightning lit up the skies.

Those unlucky enough to be caught out without an umbrella last night were drenched within seconds.

Meanwhile elderly and disabled residents in properties on Burnthouse Lane in Exeter had to be evacuated due to flooding.

Some roads were closed and several only passable with care as drains struggled to cope with the deluge.

The Commons Culture Media and Sports Committee on which I sit is currently doing an inquiry into the balance of arts funding in England. This was prompted by a number of recent independent reports showing that both Government and lottery support for the arts and culture is skewed massively in favour of London and that regions like the South West lose out.

Students design T-shirt range to support YMCA Exeter

A group of sixth form students from South Dartmoor Community College have helped design a range of t-shirts, all of the proceeds of which will go to supporting the work of YMCA Exeter’s housing projects.

The project is called Good Material and was initiated by Exeter locals Oly Harrison and Charlie Martin.
