One of Exeter’s most successful community-owned social enterprises, The Real Food Store in Paris Street, Exeter celebrates its 5th birthday on Thursday 31 March and will be running a special in-store competition for customers during the week.

Over the past five years the store has won a number of awards including the Best Independent Food Retailer at the Food Reader Awards and several from DEBI (Devon Environmental Business Initiative) that recognizes its commitment to environmental principles.

Exeter Business Survey Results March 2016

The latest Exeter Business Survey carried out by the Exeter Chamber of Commerce and Industry has indicated that business is in the city is flourishing.

62% of businesses are reporting that they have seen their sales figures rise this last quarter. This is the highest record of increase in sales for 2 years.

Businesses in Exeter are also recording the best figures for investment in the last quarter since the commencement of the recession in 2008. 89% of businesses report that they have invested in the last quarter and are still planning to keep investing in the near future...

Well done Team GemFest for another brilliant fun filled mini indoor festival at the Exeter Phoenix.

You’ve also raised money for Exeter Hospiscare – thank you Team GemFest and all the artists, businesses and volunteers who gave their time and the crowds who supported the event on Easter Sunday.

GemFest featured an afternoon of family fun at the Exeter Phoenix Centre, with lots of music, games, face painting and Easter eggs, with great music from Teens Support Hospiscare.

Tuesday will see sunshine and showers, again with these turning heavy at times, and bringing a risk of hail and thunder. In any sunshine, it should feel pleasant enough. Maximum Temperature 11 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Showery again on Wednesday, but mostly dry by Thursday, and in lighter winds, it should feel increasingly pleasant. Dry on Friday, but with sunshine turning hazier through the day.

Family Day at Exeter Racecourse on Wednesday (March 30), sponsored by Finlake Holiday Park, will be a feast of education and entertainment that is free for all children aged 17 and under.

Two pony races begin the day’s action at 1pm followed by seven races. A Mid Devon primary has been selected to become a National Teaching School and help train the teachers and education leaders of the future.

The Duchy School at Bradninch is just one of 54 schools to have been appointed this year throughout the country.
