Gold for Rydon Farm B&B in Tourism Awards

Philip and Sally Glanvill are celebrating today having won Gold in the prestigious South West Tourism Excellence Awards held on Thursday 4th February.

The event took place in the stunning location of the Nave of Exeter Cathedral and was hosted by ITV news presenters Kylie Pentelow and Ian Axton with an inspiring opening address by travel journalist and Chair of the Family Holiday Association Alison Rice.

Baxter reflects on Saracens defeat

Exeter Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter insisted he would not panic despite seeing his side’s 15-match winning streak at Sandy Park ended by visiting Saracens.

The boot of Charlie Hodgson proved to be the Chiefs undoing in the second half after they had raced into an early lead through James Short’s intercept try against his former club and two Gareth Steenson penalties.

WARNING as strong winds and heavy rain set to batter Devon

Police are advising people to take extra care on Monday 8 February after the Met Office issued an amber weather warning of very strong winds.

Heavy rain and strong winds with gusts of between 60 and 70 mph are likely from 3am on Monday morning.

As a result, traffic disruption is expected due to fallen trees and flooded roads.

Motorists are asked to drive carefully, allow extra time for their journeys and avoid all flooded areas.

Members of the public are warned to stay away from coastal areas due to large waves, and asked to check outdoor bins and other...

Drivers rescued from flood water

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service today warned motorists not to attempt to drive through flood watrer after a busy night and moring rescuing people.

In one incident fire appliances from Middlemoor and Danes Castle were mobilised to a call from a distressed woman reporting a car stuck in flood water which was seeping into the vehicle.

Crews rescued two adults and four children from the car and took them to safety.

Four Chiefs youngsters pen new deals

Exeter Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter has spoken of his delight after four of the club’s highly-rated youngsters today put pen to paper on new deals.

Talented back Max Bodilly has been rewarded for some sparkling form with a new two-year contract extension, whilst Stu Townsend and Ed Holmes have also agreed new two-year deals from the start of next season.

Completing the list is young fly-half Joe Simmonds, younger brother of current Chief, Sam Simmonds, who has signed his professional contract, signing on for the next three years.

Chiefs star Nowell helps England to victory

Exeter Chiefs star Jack Nowell described England’s RBS Six Nations victory over Scotland as “massive” and hopes Eddie Jones’ side can now kick on in the competition.

In a hard fought encounter, Cornishman Nowell claimed his eighth international try as he followed up an earlier score from George Kruis to help England to a 15-9 success.
