Schools across Devon stand to gain £7.5 million more from the Government's proposed new funding formula, it has been revealed.

Education Secretary Justine Greening announced the revised formula last Thursday and accountants at County Hall in Exeter have been number crunching the figures.

Their initial calculations show that schools across the county should share in an extra £7.5 million if the formula remains as announced.

Exeter Loungers runners-up in British Championships

Exeter based skittles team The Loungers gave their best ever performance by reaching the finals of the men’s British Skittles Championship. The team, who play out of The Kings pub in Exeter, had fought their way through group rounds and knock out matches to book their place in the finals. They were eventually beaten by just 16 points in a dramatic contest in front of a packed audience. Winners were the Wiltshire Wonders, who were previously champions in 2014.

Killerton reaches £100k fundraising milestone thanks to public support

Killerton has reached a fundraising milestone after supporters have helped raise £100,000 to put towards the roof conservation project.

The appeal, which was launched in January this year, asked supporters to help raise funds for vital roof repairs to help prevent damage to the much-loved house and collections. The project is now in its final stages and will see the roof being fully restored and conservation work undertaken on the stonework and parapets alongside the reinstatement of historic chimneys that had been previously removed.
