Fancy a rave... first thing in the morning?!

Ever felt like you'd like to go dancing but don't have the energy to stay up until midnight for the privilege?

Now you don't have to. A new initiative from EDP Drug & Alcohol Services, Active Devon and Exeter Phoenix is bringing dancing to the morning.

Inspired by the Morning Gloryville rave events in London they are bringing Exeter its very own 'Morning SoberRave'. It's a chance to get active through dancing at a welcoming and fun event before heading off to the rest of your day.

Lost Weekend is delighted to announce the headliner for the Lost In Music part of the festival will be the amazing Public Service Broadcasting.

The band will bring their spellbinding show to Exeter’s amazing gothic Cathedral on Saturday, October 7.

Judi & Gus set off on coffee and cake tour to raise money for local charity Hospiscare

Local radio and TV personality Judi Spiers has set off with her long term pal, Gus Honeybun to visit as many coffee mornings as they can in September.

Supported by Mercedes Benz of Exeter, who are sponsoring the campaign and who have kindly lent Judi a Cabriolet in which she can zip about the lanes of Devon, the pair will be visiting workplaces, homes and village halls to enjoy some home baking, strong coffee and to give thanks to the lovely people in our community who are raising money for local hospice charity, Hospiscare .

Property Search Group pledges support for Exeter Chiefs' charity

Property Search Group has announced it is one of 15 businesses to pledge support for the Exeter Foundation by raising at least £1,500, for the trust, over the next 12 months.

The Exeter Foundation is a fundraising body run by Premiership rugby club the Exeter Chiefs and local businesses. The money raised by PSG, over the next 12 months, will go towards projects and organisations in and around the city.

Volunteer Inn curries help Western Storm to success

The Volunteer Inn in Ottery St Mary was thrilled to learn the Western Storm Twenty20 team won the Women’s Super League Finals.

The pub had been delivering catering to the team whilst they were training at Exeter University’s Topsham Sports Ground over the summer.

Volunteer landlady and head cook Jacqui Down carried out a trial meal for the team in June and started the contract in July.

Triple promotion at family law specialist

The summer turned out just fine for three employees at The Family Law Company who were all promoted.

Fiona Wadey, who joined the company in 2012, becomes Senior Associate Solicitor. Fiona joined the company in 2012 and is a Senior Associate Solicitor. A specialist in divorce and finances, Fiona also has expertise in pre-nuptial and cohabitation agreements and the issues faced by growing numbers of unmarried couples. On top of her daily workload, Fiona volunteers for the Citizens Advice Bureau.

Firefighters tackle blaze on train

Fire control received a call from a member of British Rail reporting an empty passenger carriage on fire at Exeter St Davids in the early hours of this morning.

Five pumps from in and around the Exeter area were mobilised plus several specialist supporting vehicles and several officers.

The fire was discovered at 4.59am today.

Firefighters discocered the fire in the engine compartment of a parked up train. Crews used two breathing apparatus, two compressed air foam jets and one thermal image camera to extinguish.

Now scaled down, two crews remain on scene...
