But apart from the odd appearance on the pitch after a game, his role has been mostly behind the scenes.
Gareth is celebrating 10 years as an Exeter Chief and as part of his celebratory year is...
Dinner parties are the type of occasion that TV programmes and documentaries love because of their propensity to go horribly wrong. Whether it's fiction or factual, gathering a group of people together with food and drink has the potential for disaster but entertaining family, friends or business colleagues is actually a lot easier than you might think.
If you plan well and don't try to be too clever, you can throw a dinner party that will have your guests talking approvingly about it for months, if not years into the future.

Leading local advice charity, Citizens Advice Exeter, says that the recent Matthew Taylor review of modern employment practices includes many proposals which would help people currently at the sharp end of insecure work but says that enhanced rights and protections will require more effective enforcement.
The review report was published last month.
In the last year the charity has helped people with 1,074 enquiries about issues they were having at work. The main issues being:
Exeter City slipped to a narrow 2-1 defeat at home to Charlton Athletic in Round 1 of the Carabao Cup.
Despite Lee Holmes giving City a second half lead from a free-kick, goals from Billy Clarke and Regan Charles-Cook meant the Grecians will not progress to the next round of the competition.
City made three changes to the side that started the 1-0 league win over Cambridge United at the weekend as Troy Archibald-Henville, Luke Croll and Holmes replaced Jordan Moore-Taylor, Craig Woodman and David Wheeler.
An entertaining first half saw both sides have several...
Luke Cowan-Dickie believes Exeter Chiefs will ‘thrive’ on the challenge of trying to defend their Aviva Premiership crown this season.
Having claimed their maiden English title back in May, defeating rivals Wasps in extra time at Twickenham, Rob Baxter’s side are gearing up nicely for their new 2017/18 campaign, which kicks-off on Friday, September 1 with a trip to Gloucester.
And with just a month or so to go before that seasonal opener, the England hooker insists the mood is buoyant at Sandy Park as the Chiefs ready themselves for another big season ahead.
There's still time to enter the Michelmores 5k Charity Run, which takes place on Thursday 7 September, at 6.30pm.
The law firm is aiming to beat last year's fundraising record of £26,000. For the second consecutive year, the Michelmores Charity Run is in aid of local charity Balloons, who support bereaved children and their families in Exeter and the surrounding areas.
For every £25 raised in sponsorship for Balloons, each runner will be entered into a prize draw to win a long weekend stay for up to six people at a luxury seaside cottage in St Ives.
