Every year brings in new fashions and trends for us to encompass and bring into our lifestyles. Some are fleeting, but others can last a lifetime and be the inspiration you never knew you needed – especially when it comes to decorating your tired-looking home. Therefore, with a new year in sight, it’s be exciting to see which styles will influence our homes. Here are the six interior trends you need to look out for in 2018.

New Colour Palettes

Pantone forecasts the latest colour trends, and for spring 2018, they foreshadow an increased popularity in fun and dramatic colours, such as tomato red, light green, violet, bright yellow, maroon, and soft pinks. However, for those who find solace in more classic colour palettes, dark blue, grey and warm brown such as a light, sandy beige, will also be in season. Redecorating your home can be a huge undertaking, therefore, to obtain that fresh, clean look, hire a professional to apply your colour of choice. Check out athdecorating.co.uk for more information.

The Return of Silver and Chrome

Although brass and copper hardware and accents have proven popular throughout 2017, chrome is about to make a knockout return, along with a few additions such as matte black. However, interior designers are expecting the eventual return for silver metallic, with brass and copper continuing to play a part in the background.

The Art of Wabi-Sabi

Wabi-sabi is the traditional Japanese philosophy that centres on the acceptance of imperfection. This Japanese aesthetic is a concept derived from a beauty that is imperfect, incomplete and impermanent. Characteristics of wabi-sabi include asymmetry, simplicity, modesty, roughness and appreciation. Many of these characteristics are found in Japanese influenced pottery, such as dinnerware, but can transcend into furniture such as coffee tables and even cookware.

Dark Wood and Earthy Tones

Dark wood is making a comeback next year, with woods such as walnut and rosewood being preferred over blonde woods. However, to keep your home well-balanced, you’ll want to pair your dark wood with softer, and lighter, earthy tones. This is so you can retain harmony in your house. For example, replace kitchen worktops with a dark wood, and balance out your kitchen with lighter cupboards.

Add Textures

Experimenting with multiple textures is going to play a large roll in 2018, and can be easily implementing into your home next year, with minimal to no fuss. Adding texture to your home can be as simple as draping a large, woven blanket across the end of your bed, to including geometric and embossed surfaces to kitchens and dining rooms. Metallic finishing is also predicted to make headway next year, being included in fabrics but also detailing.

Marble Will Remain

Marble has proven popular this year, and it’s forecasted to remain stylish for next year. Therefore, marble kitchens are safe, and don’t need to be adapted. However, there will be a broader colour scheme for people to choose from if they’re about to invite marble into their houses. Colours include browns, blacks and even greens.
