A range of different technology is being deployed by transport operators to simplify their passenger-counting systems. Data acquisition systems can count passengers on vehicles such as buses and trains. While there are several technologies involved in passenger-counting, so far, video passenger counting systems have a much higher level of accuracy and versatility. Video passenger counters can keep track of the number of people boarding a vehicle at each stopping point and they are about 98% accurate. Maintenance work set to be carried out on popular canal bridge

Salmonpool Swingbridge - which crosses the Exeter Ship Canal - is set to close for much of next Wednesday (25 November), to allow maintenance to be carried out.

The bridge, which connects Clapperbrook Lane to the Riverside Valley Park car park will be closed to all vehicles, cycles and pedestrians between 8am and around 2pm whilst an inspection on the underside of the bridge and routine maintenance on the deck takes place.
