Motorists with new and used zero emission cars will be able to have their vehicles fitted with the new green number plates at all Hendy dealerships in Devon.

The plates, which feature a green strip on the left hand side of the registration number, identify zero emission vehicles. It is hoped that they will help local authorities implement new policies such as cost-free entry into zero emission zones, and encourage more people to make the switch to eco-friendly driving ahead of the ban on traditional fossil fuel vehicles in 2030, recently moved forward from 2040.

With Exeter moving into Tier 3 restrictions from New Year’s Eve, people in the city will be wanting to know which City Council facilities and services will be closed and which ones will stay open.

Extra measures announced to bring rough sleepers inside during cold

Exeter City Council will be making extra emergency accommodation available to rough sleepers over the coming days as temperatures are set to dip below freezing.

The City Council stressed that nobody needs to be sleeping outside and has activated its Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) in light of the worsening forecast for tonight (Wednesday) and the next four nights.

The government has reviewed the tier restrictions, and Devon is to move up to Tier 3 from Thursday 31 December.

That means:

More coronavirus vaccination centres began seeing patients today (29 December), with facilities opening in North Devon and Exeter.
