Pupils from Exeter School have been busy tackling the problem of marine litter on our beaches by taking part in a Beach Clean event organised by STC Expeditions – an ethical school expedition company based in Exeter.

The Beach Clean took place on Saturday 9th March 2019 and was organised as part of the Marine Conservation Society’s (MCS) national Beachwatch project. The data will help MCS identify the main sources of litter at Dawlish Warren and keep the issue of the dangers of marine litter high on the local agenda.

Exeter School is looking forward to performing its annual Choral Society concert in Exeter Cathedral on Thursday 21 March, which this year will feature music by Handel and Poulenc. Made up of current pupils, parents, staff and guests, the concert will feature four pieces. The full chorus and orchestra will perform Part 2 of arguably the best-loved choral work in Britain, Handel's Messiah, including the Hallelujah Chorus, and also Poulenc's Gloria, which combines chords and rhythms more often found in jazz along with hauntingly beautiful melodies. With just a fortnight to go until the launch of the Big Pedal 2019, schools are being encouraged to sign up for the UK’s largest cycling, walking and scooting challenge.

Organised by the walking and cycling charity Sustrans, the competition runs from Monday 25 March to Friday 5 April and encourages young people to travel by bike, foot or scooter for their journey to and from school.
