Exeter Chiefs chairman says new American owners will bring ‘razzmatazz’ to rugby union

Exeter Chiefs chairman Tony Rowe believes that the club’s impending takeover by an American consortium could transform the Gallagher Premiership.

The billionaire owners of English Premier League club Bournemouth have agreed a deal for the club, subject to the membership’s approval at an extraordinary general meeting on May 7.

If the deal is ratified, Exeter Chiefs will become the latest Premiership team alongside Newcastle and Bath to secure major new investment.

As the Rugby World cup kicks off in Japan, TV Licensing is advising publicans to avoid a penalty and check they are correctly covered by a TV licence if they plan to show live matches.

Due to the time difference, the scrum at the bar will start far earlier than usual this weekend (21-22 September) as rugby fans across the country pack into pubs to watch the home nations live in action.

With three Exeter Chiefs players - Luke Cowan-Dickie, Jack Nowell and Henry Slade - chosen for England’s official 31-man squad, supporters in the city have an extra reason to join the crowds...

Why Taylor would be right to say no to Lincoln advances

It is only mid-September and the football season is not even two months old but the manager merry go round is already in full swing. A whole host of managers in the top four tiers of the English game have left their roles and there is a growing sense that the Exeter City hot seat might be available soon too. If we were Matt Taylor we’d stay put – at least for the time being.

Taylor has been mentioned in connection with the vacancy at Sincil Bank after Danny Cowley stepped up to take charge at Championship side Huddersfield Town. Taylor has insisted he’s happy at Exeter and the...

Match report: City 2 Port Vale 0

Two goals in the last 10 minutes gave Exeter City a deserved three points with a 2-0 win over Port Vale at St James Park.

Grecians boss Matt Taylor made three changes to the side that was held to a 2-2 draw against Leyton Orient on Saturday; Ben Seymour was rewarded with a start alongside Tom Parkes and Jayden Richardson in a rotation that saw Aaron Martin, Randell Williams and Lee Martin all drop to the bench.

Port Vale created the first opening of the game after five minutes, with Cristan Montano delivering a powerfully-hit cross to the back post to find Richie Bennett,...

Match report: Exeter City 2 Leyton Orient 2

Nicky Law struck a late penalty to ensure Exeter City picked up a 2-2 draw at St James Park.

The Grecians went ahead late in the first half through Pierce Sweeney's first goal of the season, before Lee Angol quickly brought Orient level just before the break.

Louis Dennis then saw his shot deflect off Aaron Martin and up in the net just after the restart, but Law calmly converted late on to continue City's unbeaten start to the league campaign.

Matt Taylor made no changes to the side that beat Carlisle United 3-1 at Brunton Park, as City looked to continue their...

As a member of the Exeter Chiefs Foundation XV programme, RGB Building Supplies had pledged to raise £1,500 in a year and is delighted to announce it’s exceeded that target.

The 2018-19 season ended disappointingly with just two wins in Exeter’s final seven leagues game. That record to end the season meant that the club missed out on a playoff place by one point, but there is no doubting that Matt Taylor has stamped his philosophy over his side and the 2019-20 season could be a fruitful campaign.

The manager has enjoyed a fine record since taking over at Exeter having only lost 18 of his 58 games in charge. If this record can be improved over the next nine months, then there is no reason why they can’t maintain their place in the mix for automatic...
