The 2022 renewal of the Cheltenham Festival is pretty much here! That’s right, there is now less than a week to go until the ‘Greatest Show on Turf’ gets underway at the iconic Prestbury Park in the heart of the Cotswolds and racing fanatics will be back in attendance for the first time two years — meaning anticipation really is at boiling point as we count down the final few days!

There is so much to get excited about and look forward to next week, but for novices, the Cheltenham Festival can be a rather daunting spectacle to get your head around when you know very little there...

Trainer Harry Fry was pleased to see Captain Drake get his career back on track and remind everyone of his talents with a tenacious success in the Virgin Bet Devon National Handicap Chase at Exeter yesterday (25 February).

Without a victory to his name in more than 15 months the nine year old Getaway gelding changed that when demonstrating that stamina is very much his forte with victory under Bryan Carver in the extended 3m 6f feature.

Turning in the race looked set to be fought out between The Two Amigos and Classic Ben, who was bidding to...

Williams points to ‘self-belief’ as the key to Six Nations success

Shane Williams has urged Wales’ current crop of players to believe in themselves if they want to win this year’s Six Nations tournament.

Williams understands more than most how to get the job done, having played an integral role in Wales’ Grand Slam triumphs in 2005 and 2008.

He was selected in three World Cup squads, ended his international career as his country’s record try scorer and was deservedly inducted into the World Rugby Hall of Fame.

However, the current crop of players have a long way to go if they want to match Williams’ achievements, with the Grand...

With Ruby Walsh retiring in 2019, Paul Townend landed perhaps the best job any National Hunt racing jockey in the United Kingdom and Ireland could ask for — the role of being Willie Mullins’ number one rider! The 31-year-old has since proved to be one of the best jumps jockeys there is, winning two Gold Cups aboard Al Boum Photo in 2019 and 2020 and taking his own tally of winners at the prestigious Prestbury Park meeting to 15.

Having won the Top Jockey award with five winning rides in 2020, it looked like the beginning of a new period of dominance for Townend — similar to that...

There appears to be a new queen as far as the Cheltenham Festival’s Champion Hurdle is concerned. With Rachael Blackmore in the saddle, Henry de Bromhead’s Honeysuckle stormed to a six-and-a-half length victory in the Day One feature race last year and the trusty trio are tipped to defend their championship hurdling crown with ease when the 2022 renewal rolls around in just a few weeks’ time — with the 14-time unbeaten horse a good choice to use your Cheltenham best offer on.

At just eight years old, the mare could have the hurdling division at her peril for another couple of...

Exeter City are currently on the charge in League Two, and hoping that they can make a real challenge to claw their way up the table and solidify themselves in the play-off places come the season’s end. The team had a decent first half of the season, and now all fans will be asking themselves whether Exeter City will achieve promotion to Football League One .

Nothing excites a football fan more than getting to cheer on a player who has come up through the ranks of the club. Despite being a club of much smaller stature compared to the so called ‘super clubs’ at the top of the...
