Toby's Garden Festival Unveils Exciting Speaker Lineup

The 10th Toby’s Garden Festival (Friday 3rd - Saturday 4th May 2024) is set to be the most inspiring yet. Hosted by BBC Two Gardeners' World presenter Toby Buckland, the gardening extravaganza has announced a stellar lineup of gardening and food and drink experts who will be hosting free talks during the festival’s two days. The carbon neutral festival, which is the first carbon neutral garden show in the world, is taking place in the stunning grounds of Powderham Castle, near Exeter, with tickets on sale now for £13.50 per person (under 16s free) from www.tobygardenfest.co.uk .

Another classic night of entertainment for charity

Exeter’s very own night at the proms was another fantastic success with nearly £20,000 raised for the city’s leading cancer support charity.

Classics Galore! has been staged every two years since 2007 and the 10th anniversary concert at the University of Exeter Great Hall had the audience of more than 1,000 on their feet.

The blend of popular classics and songs from some of the world’s most beloved musical theatre clearly struck the right note. Profits from the sixth Classics show will take the total raised for FORCE Cancer Charity to nearly £90,000.

First production for new theatre group

MID Devon community theatre group Activ8 Theatre takes to the stage this December with its brilliant first musical production - the charming tale of little orphan Annie. And it’s a show of firsts, with it being the first major performance in The Venue, the brand new 400-seat theatre at Uffculme School, and a first leading role for talented nine-year-old Eva Green who plays the title character.

Exeter School’s National Trust concert celebrates 17 years

For many pupils, parents and National Trust supporters, the Exeter School Concert in aid of the National Trust in Exeter Cathedral is a highlight in the calendar.

For the seventeenth year running, the concert showcases the school’s senior orchestral groups, brass and choirs in the magnificent cathedral setting.

Around 200 pupils ranging in age from 11 up to 18 will be making this year’s concert on Tuesday 5 December a night to remember.

Artistic and Executive Director of Exeter Northcott Theatre Paul Jepson has announced a major new revival of Schiller’s Don Carlos with Tom Burke leading the company as Rodrigo, Marquis of Posa. Gadi Roll’s production is presented in a co-production with Nuffield Southampton Theatres and Rose Theatre Kingston.

On Friday 3rd November the UK’s biggest club brand came to Exeter when Sandy Park hosted its first Ministry of Sound club night with over 900 revellers in attendance.
