First production for new theatre group

MID Devon community theatre group Activ8 Theatre takes to the stage this December with its brilliant first musical production - the charming tale of little orphan Annie.   And it’s a show of firsts, with it being the first major performance in The Venue, the brand new 400-seat theatre at Uffculme School, and a first leading role for talented nine-year-old Eva Green who plays the title character.

The youth theatre group, which was formed earlier this year, is led by Alan Boxer, Jenny Archer and Fiona Bartlett. This performance of Annie Jr will be directed by Jenny – her first major production in the director’s chair.

The performance features 23 young people who meet weekly and rehearse at the Kentisbeare Village Hall. The group was formed following a successful community production of Scrooge last year.

Alan Boxer, ACTiv8 Theatre producer, said they were thrilled with the progress of the show and said audiences would be in for a ‘real treat’.

He added: ‘This production of Annie Junior is a sparkling and energetic piece of entertaining theatre by a talented young cast. It is a family friendly piece which will have the audience singing along with the gorgeous well-known tunes, and in tears at times as they experience the tragedy and joy of this wonderful story, directed by Jenny Archer.’

Activ8 Theatre is open to 8-18 year olds who are interested in drama, singing and dance, making shows, developing their confidence and performance skills with others.

The performances take place at The Venue, Uffculme School, at 3.30pm and 6pm on December 3. Tickets are priced £7 for adults and £5 for children under 15. To book visit http://www.activ8theatre.net/tickets/
