Community arts enterprise the Music in Devon Initiative CIC (MIDI) are extremely proud to present the Exeter Street Festival “After Party” at the Phoenix Arts Centre on Saturday August 27th.

The After Party is the grand finale of the hugely popular Exeter Street Arts Festival, which features a whole day of live music and arts activities in multiple locations across Exeter City Centre. Seaside entertainment featuring puppets, magic and songs will return to Devon’s beaches, promenades and quaysides this summer thanks to apprenticeships helping to keep traditional performance forms alive and well through training emerging local artists.

Promenade shows with slapstick, songs and Punch and Judy have become increasingly rare as holiday habits change but that won’t be the case in the county as new trainees run free performances including puppetry, escapology, blade box routines and storytelling.

Seventeen-year-old fiddle player Eve Parker has just released an EP entitled Train Tracks which consists of 4 tunes written, recorded and released as part of her first year project at Exeter college where she is taking a BTEC in music performance.

Eve, who lives in Appledore, North Devon, travels by train every day from Barnstaple to Exeter and it was these daily journeys that inspired the tunes. Eve says “I spend around 3 hours a day on the train and the changing scenery and the rhythms created by the train on the tracks gave the inspiration for the tunes and the title of the EP...
