Devon charities announced as partners for huge weekend of live music

Four Devon-based charities have been selected to be official partners for the county’s biggest music event this summer.

TK Maxx presents Live At Powderham runs for four nights from Thursday June 25 to Sunday June 28, featuring headline shows from vocal powerhouse Teddy Swims, seven-time GRAMMY winner Alanis Morissette and global superstar Lewis Capaldi.

Each night will see a local charity given the opportunity to have a team of fundraisers on site and for 2026 Live At Powderham will support Devon-based charities who make a big impact in the communities they serve....

Local law firm, Kitsons, has become the first local business to directly fund a children’s hospice nurse at Children’s Hospice South West Little Bridge House in Fremington, North Devon.

The firm of solicitors, which has offices in Exeter, Torquay and Plymouth, has pledged £1,000 towards CHSW’s ‘Sponsor a Nurse’ campaign, an exciting new corporate initiative that allows business to contribute directly to the vital funding of a nurse for the hospice. The initiative is asking 30 local businesses to contribute £1,000 each to collectively cover the cost of a qualified children’s nurse...

Princesshay raises £7,500 for MS Society

The partnership between the MS Society and Land Securities, who jointly own Princesshay together with The Crown Estate, has raised more than £7,500.

Exeter’s super slimmers support Clothes Throw

Exeter’s Slimmers have joined together to spring-clean their wardrobes and donate their clothes to Cancer Research UK in support of the national fundraising campaign ‘The Big Slimming World Clothes Throw’.

Members of all the Exeter and Crediton Slimming World groups are collecting all their unwanted clothes, shoes and accessories to donate to their local Cancer Research UK shop to support the campaign which runs from May 5th for two weeks. Each single bag collected could raise around £25 for the charity.

Easter egg campaign a 'cracker'

Local charity Hospiscare encouraged local people and businesses to get involved with their Easter campaign by raffling an Easter egg in their local community.

Amongst those that took part were the University of Exeter, The Hospiscare retails shops and many more.

Hospiscare provided participants with a yummy Easter egg and lucky squares which could be raffled off for just £1 per entry.

The Fore Street shop in Exeter raised an amazing £200 selling their tickets, and Drakes Cafe in Exeter raffled an egg as well as donating to help with their campaign.

Over the week commencing 28 April 2014, Ashfords LLP staff cycled an impressive 1,687.31 miles in order to raise donations for their chosen Charity of the Year, Children's Hospice South West (CHSW). CHSW are the only organisation in the South West to provide care for children with life-limiting conditions outside of a hospital environment.

Treasure hunt brings riches for ELF

A treasure hunt around Southernhay, organised by the Exeter office of property consultancy JLL, has raised £380 for Exeter Leukaemia Fund (ELF) - a local charity that supports people affected by leukaemia, lymphoma and other blood conditions.

Eight teams from businesses across Exeter took part in JLL’s first Southernhay Treasure Hunt, each battling it out to be the first team back to base having successfully solved all the clues. The winning team was from financial company Investec Wealth & Investment.

The South West Coast Path Association is pleased to announce two new partnerships for their 2014 fundraising event, the Great South West Walks.

When Sarah Henderson was diagnosed with severe bronchiectasis in December 2013 little did she realise that months later she'd be running a half marathon.

Earlier this year, things took a turn for the worst when her lungs became colonised by the superbug Pseudomonas Aeruginosa which resulted in several admissions to hospital and means she now has to take antibiotics every day to keep the bacteria at a low level.

A Devon man will be taking part in the Mongol Rally 2014 this summer, driving more than 10,000 miles with a friend in a donated car.

Building surveyors Matthew Wyon-Brown from Exmouth, and his friend Mark Wellbelove from West Sussex, will be raising money for the British Heart Foundation, Devon Freewheelers and Cool Earth charities.

Pens Unlimited donates to male cancer charity

Newton Abbot based family run business, Pens Unlimited, has donated 1,500 custom branded pens to the charity Realblokes.
