Ashfords LLP, a top 100 law firm with offices in Exeter, Bristol, London, Taunton and Tiverton, is sponsoring a Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) corporate fundraising initiative backed by renowned entrepreneur and Dragons’ Den investor Deborah Meaden.

The £50 Challenge sees companies using their business skills and innovation to generate as much money as possible for CHSW from an initial £50.

The law firm’s £2,500 sponsorship will provide 50 companies with a £50 start-up investment, it’s then over to the corporates to put their business brains and money making acumen to the test by growing this amount as much as is legally and ethically possible in just three months.

Ashfords LLP is now calling on South West businesses to make a real difference in their local community and put themselves to the test with The £50 Challenge.

Stuart Mathews, partner in Ashfords LLP Corporate and Commercial Team, urged other corporates to get involved. He said: "The £50 Challenge is a real opportunity to develop business skills, encourage teamwork and foster creative thinking.  Ashfords is proud to be the sponsor of this initiative in support of Children’s Hospice South West.  Our team is up for this challenge, is yours?”

Janey Hellman, CHSW Corporate Partnerships Fundraiser said: “We’re delighted that Ashfords LLP has decided to support The £50 Challenge in this way.  This generous sponsorship means even more companies will be able to get involved.  The money CHSW receives from the Government is not guaranteed each year, therefore support from companies such as Ashfords enables us to keep making the most of short and precious lives.”

Businesswoman Deborah Meaden, who lives in Somerset, has given her backing to the initiative.  She said: “It is easy when times get hard to just worry about business on a day to day basis and look inward.  Engaging with the community is so important for companies to look outward and do some real good – and you will feel great about the business too as a result.”
