Sparx Learning , the Exeter-based education technology company, has announced that Sir Charlie Mayfield will become Chair in October 2025. He will succeed Simon Lebus CBE who is stepping down after six years of transformative leadership.

Since becoming Chair in 2019, Simon Lebus has overseen a period of remarkable growth and strategic progress at Sparx. At the start of his tenure, the company served just 14 schools in Devon. Today, Sparx’s platforms support over 2.4 million students in 2,600 schools, including almost 50 in Devon, across mathematics, literacy and science.

Four popular holiday parks in Devon and Cornwall have been acquired by major operator Park Holidays UK – and the company has pledged that their unique identities will remain unchanged.

The four are among nine holiday parks operated by Bridge Leisure, now part of Park Holidays UK.

Welcomed into the group are Devon's Hedley Wood holiday park in Holesworthy, and Cornwall's Seaview Village in Polperro, Trevella Park in Newquay, and Hengar Manor in Bodmin.

EE today announced it has switched on 5G in Exeter, as the city joins 34 other places to get connected to its 5G network across the UK.

EE has added outdoor 5G coverage to some of the UK’s most popular tourist landmarks, historical sites, and coastal locations as lockdown restrictions start to ease and attractions begin to reopen from next week.
