On the 31st May, Princesshay will team up with Active Devon to provide a day of activities and demonstrations including yoga, roller skating and dance in Princesshay square where shoppers can find out more about what’s going on in the region.

The event is being held from 10am – 4pm to encourage people to get active and try something new. Active Devon will also be introducing its ‘Devon Girls Can’ campaign plus its 10-week programme helping workplaces support employees to become more active.

FoodCycle Exeter, a project which serves community meals made from surplus food has reached a significant milestone: 1,000 meals in just over a year. The project, which has grown from strength to strength, has served over 1,000 three-course meals every Tuesday night since March 2016 in Wonford Community Centre. In the last year, the volunteer team has saved over a tonne of food from going in the bin and instead used it to cook and serve 1,000 meals as well as give away over 350 parcels of food for guests to take home. The cyber attack that affected much of the NHS' services in the middle of May was halted by a local North Devon man.

22-year-old Marcus Hutchins became famous overnight after he accidentally stopped the attack by activating an in-built "kill switch".

Hutchins, who works for an American cybersecurity firm from his home in Ilfracombe and grew up locally, is credited with stopping the spread of the virus. The young computer whizz kid has been acclaimed on social media as an 'accidental hero'.
