The integration of Devon company Bandvulc, the UK’s largest truck tyre retreader, and innovative brand leader Continental less than a year ago is already delivering results, according to Managing Director Patrick O’Connell.

Bandvulc began as a small independent company in 1971 when the O’Connell family started recycling truck tyres at a Kingsbridge base using rubber imported from Malaysia. 250 cinemas are hosting dedicated autism friendly cinema screenings this month right across the UK in partnership with Dimensions, a national not-for-profit support provider for people with learning disabilities and autism. Conservatives extend majority control of Devon County Council

The Conservatives have won control of Devon County Council for the third time in a row.

The Conservatives won 42 of the 60 seats on the new authority with Labour and the Liberal Democrats winning seven seats apiece and three Independents and a Green being elected.

There was an overall turnout of 40.2 per cent of the 601,797 eligible voters.

Nigel Lyons, a contentious regulatory partner at law firm Browne Jacobson LLP, has been appointed as the new Deputy Vice President of the Devon and Somerset Law Society (DASLS) for 2017-18.

Thousands set to tackle Ten Tors challenge

Thousands of young people will set off on the 2017 Ten Tors challenge this weekend, spending two days in small self-sufficient teams walking through some of the most stunning scenery Dartmoor has to offer.

Alongside the Ten Tors Challenge, hundreds of young people with special needs will take part in the Jubilee Challenge.

Participants enter the Challenge as a member of a team or as an individual. Just like the Ten Tors Challenge, they are required to trek and navigate across northern Dartmoor to specified checkpoints.

There may be one round of the scheduled Aviva Premiership season to go, but there is still plenty to do for Rob Baxter and his Exeter Chiefs over the coming weeks.

The finalists for the prestigious 2017 Exeter Foundation Devon Sports Awards have been announced and all 30 are outstanding. Bridge Road in Exeter closed this weekend

Road users are being reminded that Bridge Road in Exeter will be closed from 10pm tomorrow (Friday 5 May) until 5am on Monday 8 May.

The closure will enable work to continue on the installation of cantilever beams and spans for the Countess Wear pedestrian and cycle bridge.
