Local companies support CHSW’s Rainbow Run

Devon Contract Waste, RGB Building Supplies and Exmouth-based Thomson Reuters, have pledged their support for Children’s Hospice South West’s (CHSW) fundraising Rainbow Run which takes place on Saturday 9 June at Exeter’s Westpoint.

World-class professor takes lead role at Medical School

A world-leading expert in the economics of health is joining the University of Exeter Medical School’s senior team.

Professor Richard Smith will move to Exeter from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, where he is currently Dean of the Faculty of Public Health and Policy. He will take up the newly-created role of Deputy Pro-Vice Chancellor in September, as well as continuing his outstanding work in analysing the economic impact of health issues and innovations worldwide.

High quality recycling now being transported to processing plants across the UK and Europe

East Devon District Council has invested in a giant sorting and baling machine to separate more than 5,000 tonnes of recycling a year collected from residents across the district.

The council’s new machine at the Greendale Resources Recycling Centre has been built specifically to handle the high amounts of recycling that East Devon residents collect every day. The University of Exeter will join forces with the Exeter Chiefs from today to hold the first ever Sports Medicine Conference, promising to tackle the biggest issues in the field.

NDDH opens doors to public for National Operating Department Practitioner Day

Members of the public are invited to come and see what it’s like to work in a hospital operating theatre during an open day at North Devon District Hospital (NDDH) on National Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) Day. On Monday 14 May, the simulation suite at NDDH will be open to the public from 10am-3pm.
