Flybe crew goes back to school

Flybe, Europe’s largest regional airline, headed to its local school, Cranbrook Education Campus yesterday (11th July 2018) with an enthusiastic team to inspire the next generation of recruits with a talk on aviation-related careers. Some 150 students aged 11 to 14 enjoyed getting up close and personal during an interactive talk with some of Flybe’s pilots, cabin crew and engineers who gave interesting insights into how they qualified for their particular role, the training they received, explained their own individual path to joining the airline – and what their day-to-day jobs involved....

The Devon Fire and Spice Festival comes to Powderham Castle this August for a celebration of barbecuing , chillies and spice,

This fiery weekend takes place on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th August, set between the castle ramparts and the Exe estuary, and this themed food festival will focus on hot sauces, spice rubs and mixes, chilli plants, barbecues, smokers and barbecue sauces, with plenty for the non-chilli lover too.

Teignbridge District Council’s parking team will be on hand next week, Monday 16 to Friday 20 July, encouraging motorists to go cashless as a convenient way to pay for car parking.

Groups that support elderly invited to apply for £1,000 Community Fund

With 40% of households across the South West being made up of people over the age of 65*, it’s no surprise the region has the highest percentage of older people in the UK. On Saturday 23rd June, nine of the One Voice Media team walked the 18-mile Templer Way to raise funds for The Daisy Garland, a charity based in Totnes which operates across the UK and supports families living with drug-resistant epilepsy.

Plans submitted for new bridge and boardwalk on Exeter Quay

Exeter could get a stunning new waterside feature.

Plans have been submitted to build a brand new bridge and boardwalk down on Exeter’s Quayside. The new structure would replace the existing Mallison Bridge which spans the medieval leats on the north bank of the River Exe. The bridge had to be repaired in March 2017 after some wooden sections became rotten. After work was carried out, it became apparent that a long-term solution was needed. Exeter College has been named national STEM FE College of the Year and has received a prestigious award celebrating excellence in teaching in STEM.

Leading the way– nationally, in the teaching of science, technology, engineering and mathematics Exeter College, has received the Further Education College of the Year ENTHUSE Celebration Award from STEM Learning.
