The Summer Reading Challenge 2018 is set to get off to a mischievous start this July with the ‘Mischief Makers’. Exeter Festival Chorus believes music is for everyone, so as part of their 25th Anniversary celebrations they are offering their concert tickets to everyone under the age of 18 for only £1 and to students for £5. Devon’s Bicton Arena is officially Britain’s very best show centre.

A recent online poll conducted by Horse and Hound magazine asked readers to vote for their favourite venue and Bicton Arena was voted number one.

Its stunning parkland setting together with friendly, well-informed staff and a full schedule of events, from unaffiliated dressage to CIC2* eventing put the arena at the top of the influential poll ahead of other long-established centres like Hickstead, Aintree EC and Arena UK.

The formal opening of a state-of-the art £3 million ‘Advanced Engineering Centre’ - at Exeter College - a UK leading centre of excellence for robotics and virtual welding – has taken place.

In glorious weather, young people from across Devon and Cornwall shone brightest at the South West Rotary Youth Games at Dawlish on Saturday 7 July.

Around 800 participants aged 8-18 represented their local area across 13 sports at the South Devon venue whilst hundreds of other families enjoyed a packed day of activities including food stalls, fun runs, archery, dodgeball, swimming and local bands all brought to a brilliant climax by watching England on the giant screen qualify for the World Cup semi-finals.

Families for Children are delighted to announce that we have been awarded of one of the prestigious Charity Governance Awards for 2018.

Families for Children were chosen from over 20 charities from across the UK each nominated to receive one of seven awards and a £5,000 unrestricted grant. All the shortlisted charities represented a diverse range of activities that include mental health care, family support, overseas aid, community sports programmes and post-natal care.
