Exeter breastfeeding group receives national accolade

Nappuccino in Exeter has been named one of the most breastfeeding-supportive places in the UK. The regular event, held at The Baby Room at Ladysmith Infant School, offers breastfeeding support, advice and encouragement to mums who meet there on a twice-weekly basis. It has now been nationally recognised for its services to breastfeeding mums in global brand Lansinoh’s Feed With Confidence Awards 2019, after being universally nominated for being so active in their support of new mums. New partnership for local woodland

Holyford Woods Local Nature Reserve is now being managed by East Devon District Council’s Countryside Team in partnership with Axe Vale & District Conservation Society (AVDCS), following the dissolution of the long-standing Holyford Woodland Trust.

Exeter Cavern will play host to the first PetRocks! fundraiser gig to help people in the city who are homeless.

Organised by local businessman and guitarist Dan Pritchard, of Susannah and the Noise, the gig on Thursday February 20 at the Gandy Street venue will see proceeds go to local charity St Petrock’s, which is working to address the problems caused by homelessness in and around Exeter.

Susannah and the Noise will be joined by Lottie, Ghost Hands and Charlotte AP for the gig.

Last year, between 45 and 95 people were accessing the charity’s drop-in homelessness...

Resurfacing work on the Exe Estuary Trail

Resurfacing will be carried out on a section of the Exe Estuary Trail near Bridge Road next week (Monday 10 February).

The stretch of the shared-use trail between Bridge Road and Station Road car park, near the Turf Hotel, will be closed for approximately five days from Monday 10 February while the repair scheme is carried out.

Tools needed to help young people in Africa

RGB Building Supplies is delighted to have once again joined forces with South West-based charity Amigos to invite customers and members of the local community to donate preloved tools, which will go on to be used by young people in Africa.

People with a range of disability and accessibility needs have started the new decade on a happy note thanks to Paignton Zoo. The conservation charity has joined forces with the National Lottery and accessibility experts Closomat to provide a new Changing Places toilet.

"My mum was born without a thyroid gland. She has learning difficulties and some physical problems, and she gets depressed. Her problems have affected me and my sister in lots of ways.

Residents have the chance to help influence the way we all enjoy and access the county’s beautiful coastlines , countryside, parks and trails by joining the Devon Countryside Access Forum.

Local access forums are statutory bodies, set up under the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000, that give independent advice on how to enhance and improve public access to land for open air recreation and enjoyment.

Celebrated actor Mark Bonnar becomes patron of national charity Heart Research UK

Scottish actor Mark Bonnar, star of Guilt, Line of Duty and Shetland, is to become a patron of national charity Heart Research UK.

Mark first became involved with the charity in 2018, producing a piece of original artwork that was auctioned as part of the charity’s anonymous heART project.
