Exeter Scout and Guide Gang Show 2020 returns to the Barnfield Theatre this Easter, with a show full of singing, dancing and sketches.

Bigger, brighter and louder than ever, the 36th Exeter Gang Show is packed full of popular songs, dance and laugh out loud sketches and has everything to keep audience members of any age entertained.

The cast of almost 80 Cubs, Brownies, Scouts, Guides, Explorers, Rangers and their Leaders from across Exeter and the surrounding areas are swapping their hiking and camping kit for the bright lights, make-up, glitz and glamour of showbiz.

"There is something for everyone," says Producer Dave Britton "we've got songs from musicals such as The Lord of the Rings and Kinky Boots, and we'll be performing hits from the likes of American Authors, Ed Sheeran and Nickelback. There's also a special section looking at the impact of us all on the environment."

Producer Helen Bryant continued "We had amazing feedback after following last year's show with several sell-out performances and this has spurred the cast and crew on to make the show even better. With the talent on show from our Scouts and Guides, I don't think anyone will be disappointed."

The Gang Show is a real mix of music, dance and comedy, boasting over 25 different songs, spread across 14 scenes exploring everything from gaming to photography and journeys to singing wheelie bins. All this is stitched together with fast-paced sketches and dances including newspapers and the challenges of boarding an airplane.

Exeter Gang Show has been performing in the city for over 35 years allowing Scout and Guides ranging from age 9 and up, to build confidence, learn new skills and make life-long friends while showcasing what they can do in front of the local community.

Putting the show together is a huge task, with a production team of over 100 volunteers getting to work pretty much as soon as the curtain fell on the hugely successful 2019 show last April to produce over 600 costumes, 10 different sets, over 200 props and preparing over 250 different lighting and sound effects.

"We are excited about this year's show and how the 'Gang' has built in recent years" added Dave and Helen. "We continue to have an amazing cast of talented young people and we couldn't be prouder of all their hard work and dedication, rehearsing every week since December last year. Now, with just a month to go the cast are getting excited and can't wait to get on stage and show off what they can do."

The show is a great night out for all the family. Most of all it brings together all ages from Guiding and Scouting and the opportunity for them to perform on stage, enjoy the limelight and take away that buzz that you can only get from the roar of the crowd.

The Exeter Scout and Guide Gang Show will be at the Barnfield Theatre, Exeter from Wednesday 1st to Saturday 4th April. Performances start at 7.15 pm with a Saturday matinee at 2.00 pm. Tickets cost £11.00 or £9.00 for concessions. Tickets: 01392 271808 or online (https://barnfieldtheatre.ticketsolve.com/shows/873612520).
