Missing Devon man last seen at National Trust property

Update: Mr Kerr returned home safe and well earlier this morning.

Police are appealing for sightings of a missing person in the Devon area. Stephen Kerr was last seen on Thursday 3rd January, 2013, at the car park at Parke in Bovey Tracy, Devon, a parkland and forest area belonging to the National Trust.

Stephen is described as a white male in his mid-50s. He is 5’8’’ tall and of slim build with green eyes and straight grey hair, which is receding. Stephen was last seen wearing a black jacket and dark trousers.

Torquay terror suspects released without charge

The two men arrested on suspicion of terrorist offences in Torquay have been released without charge. However, Police say that a criminal investigation will continue. The men, aged 18 and 20, were arrested under the Terrorism Act on Thursday following the discovery of a suspect package at a house in Torquay. Police forensics experts had been searching the house in Lymington Road. The area, between Upton Road and Upton Hill, was closed to the public for about five hours on Thursday.

Appeal for witnesses of Kingsteignton collision

Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision in Kingsteignton.

The collision occurred around 3.50pm on Thursday 3rd January on the B3193 Chudleigh Road in kingsteignton. The road is also known locally as Claypits Road.

Involved in the collision was a Ford Fiesta driven by a local woman and a Ford Focus motor vehicle containing two men who also reside locally.

The woman, aged 27 sustained fracture injuries and was conveyed to the R D & E Hospital in Exeter.

Search for missing Jordan Cobb to enter fourth day

After yet another day of searching for Jordan Cobb, who was last seen jumping from Torpoint Ferry on New Year's Eve, there appears to be no sign of the missing boy.

From 10am, three RNLI Lifeboats and two MoD launches undertook searches in the area north of the Breakwater in Plymouth Sound. The coordinated search involved some 50 members of staff from the Coastguard and Devon & Cornwall and Ministry of Defence (MoD) Police and included both sides of the river and the dockyard taking advice from the force Lost Person Search Manager (LPSM).

Two men arrested after suspicious package found

Police have arrested two men after investigating an incident of criminal damage.

As part of the investigation a property in the Lymington Road area, opposite the Coach Station, was searched when some suspect items were discovered which are potentially dangerous.

As a result a small number of properties were evacuated as a precaution.

Bomb disposal experts are currently at the scene.

The area between Upton Road and Upton Hill remains closed and police are advising the public to avoid the area at this time.

2012 England's wettest year since records began

According to provisional statistics gathered by the Met Office, 2012 was the second wettest year for the UK in the national record dating back to 1910.

The total annual rainfall was 1330.7 mm, which is just 6.6 mm short of the record set in 2000.

In what has been an exceptionally wet year across the UK, accurate forecasts and warnings from the Met Office have helped us all to plan, prepare and protect ourselves from the worst impacts of the extremely wet weather we have seen.
