Shaped by views of those that know it well, the statement will sum up the unique, distinctive and cherished characteristics of the...
Rick and Jeanette Wills narrowly escaped being poisoned by the fumes from the gas fridge in their caravan. Rick Wills explains: “It was a chilly night so my wife and I shut all the windows before going to bed.
"We were awoken by the Carbon Monoxide (CO) detector at 2am. I couldn’t smell anything, so I took the alarm off the wall and put it under a pillow to stop the noise. As an afterthought I opened all the windows, including the skylight. When we woke in the morning we both felt awful.”
Carbon Monoxide is a highly poisonous gas that has no colour, taste or smell and can...

Unite Community members from across Devon will be starting a summer long campaign today (Thursday 18 June), to highlight cuts to community hospital beds with a protest outside County Hall in Exeter. Plans have been put forward to replace community hospital beds in Devon with a system of home care called “care closer to home”. Concerns are mounting that the loss of the beds will leave elderly and vulnerable patients recovering from operations and other treatments isolated, as well as putting pressure on over stretched critical wards at district hospitals. Unite Community member James...
Plans are underway for a new site for a proposed Park and Ride on the edge of Exeter.
Devon County Council is set to begin pre-application discussions on a new location for the Park and Ride at the A30 Alphington Interchange junction.
Previous proposals had looked to develop the Oaklands Stable site, accessed off Alphington Road. However, following recent evaluations a new site at “Round Field” is proposed, which is on the other side of the A30 junction between the westbound slip road and the road that leads out towards Ide.

As summer approaches, Devon & Somerset & Fire & Rescue Service as part of the Fire Kills campaign, are asking people to make sure their family, guests and loved ones know how to get out, stay out, and call 999 in the event of a fire.
A smoke alarm can give you the warning you need to get out of your home in a fire, but a blocked exit, locked door or unfamiliar surroundings can often shave vital seconds from the escape time, exposing you to the fatal dangers of toxic smoke.
Some simple steps and a clear escape plan in the event of a fire will help ensure that...
