On Saturday 8 June, United Truckers organised a convoy of 39 cabs to take children from the Somerset-based charity bibic to visit Devon’s Crealy Great Adventure Park. Each child and their carer travelled in these monster cabs from Bridgwater, arriving at Devon’s Crealy to enjoy a fun day out for free.
Shirley from United Truckers said: “This is the second year that we have taken our convoy from Bridgwater to Devon’s Crealy. The children from bibic are so inspiring and we are very happy that we are able to do this for them. The cabs always create quite a stir when they are driving...

The garden at Pine Lodge in Tiverton has come a long way since Hospiscare opened the Day Care Unit based on Post Hill in 2011.
What was little more than a dumping ground just over a year ago is almost unrecognisable today.
A team of volunteers have worked tirelessly to take the garden in hand and transform the green space ready for an open garden event being held on 8 June.
The garden had been an overrun mass of trees, bushes and rabbits, but has since become a haven for patients at the unit, which is now beginning to burst with spring colour.
This year has been quite a momentous one for Exeter Community Initiatives (ECI).
We have successfully taken on two extra Children's Centres (Sure Start) in Wonford and Countess Wear to accompany our existing Flying Start Children's Centre.
We have had a change of Chief Executive. I stepped into Alistair Macintosh's large shoes in July 2012 and have been getting to grips with the job over the last year and making changes so ECI is facing the challenges of the future head on.
We said a sad goodbye to our Harvest project, which has played such a big role in our work...

Famous ballet dancer and Devonian Wayne Sleep is backing the Appeal suggesting as many groups as possible take part in the flashmob to raise as much as...
We are delighted to announce that The Mercure Exeter Southgate Hotel has adopted Hospiscare as their Charity of the Year for 2013.
Hospiscare is a local charity providing an all-encompassing service for people with a terminal diagnosis. All of their services are provided free of charge with the support of the local community.
Employees of the Southgate Hotel have already been very busy the past few weeks fundraising for Hospiscare by organising a Pink Pig Racing event and taking part in the Starlight Walk in Exmouth on 11 May.
A project to help unite a mission community has raised nearly £3,000 for the diocese Sand Dam Lent Appeal. This now takes the total to £8,874.
“I’m absolutely thrilled!” said the Revd Chas Deacon, Diocesan Companion Links Mission Officer. “This will help us to make a good start towards assisting water security in the Thika Diocese in Kenya. There’s a lot to be done!”
The Five Alive Mission Community was the first mission community to be created in the Exeter and undertook the fundraising project to promote unity. Simultaneously they also followed a Lent course called, ‘...

Charity-run cookery classes which have helped novices in Devon to fend for themselves in the kitchen, will be running again this June.
The Hospiscare Catering Team at Dryden Road Exeter began the series of courses in September last year and have taught people, many who have never had to cook for themselves, basic culinary skills.
The courses are for anyone who has found themselves alone following a bereavement or are looking after a poorly partner and doesn’t have the first idea how to prepare and cook a basic meal.
80-year-old Eric Smith from Honiton completed the...
