Drivers urged to support My Red Thumb Day

Motorists are being asked to help save lives by lending their support to My Red Thumb Day (Thursday 11 May).

The annual campaign highlights the dangers of driving and riding while using hand-held mobile devices. To coincide with the day, #MyRedThumb has launched a new road safety video which aims to encourage passengers to speak out against drivers using their phones in order to help reduce the risk of a crash.

Local artisans and talented crafts people are coming together to exhibit at the Devon County Show on May 18, 19 and 20 held at Westpoint, Exeter.

A collection of soap makers, leather workers, jewellers, artists, candle makers and many others will be setting up shop in a canvas marquee which would easily cover a premier league football pitch.

The Crafts and Gardens feature is nearly 12,000 square metres and will highlight the popularity of hand-made items, often using centuries-old techniques.

New book will share inspirational stories of people with cancer

Two Medicine students at the University of Exeter Medical School are behind an upcoming book that aims to empower people with cancer by sharing their inspirational stories.

Students Bogdan Chiva Giurca, 23, and Navin Nagesh, 25, raised funds for a project to help people with cancer share their personal inspirational stories. They came up with the idea of a book written by people with cancer to inspire others affected by the disease.

Work to begin on £3.5m stadium improvements at Exeter City FC

Exeter City Football Club has today confirmed that work will start on its stadium improvement project this summer - after more than two years of complex negotiations.

Contracts to commence the work have been signed and developers plan to begin construction next month.

Families have the chance to try a range of water based activities at the Grand Western Canal Country Park’s ’Fun on the Water' day later this month.

Stand-up paddle boarding, rowing boat and Canadian Canoe hire sessions as well as model boating and pond dipping are on offer.

Devon Wildlife Trust is giving people to explore Exeter’s last working watermill at the charity’s annual National Mills Weekend family event.
