Peter Hawes is celebrating after completing this year’s London Marathon in support of local charity Rainbow Living.
Peter ran the gruelling 26 miles in a fantastic time of 3 hours and 50 minutes and has so far raised £1,020 for the Exeter-based charity.
Peter said: “When I got to 50 I said I’d apply to run the London Marathon, knowing for sure that no one ever got in first time…how wrong I was! I’ve run many half marathons but never two back to back – but feel grateful to have had the opportunity to take part in such a special and unique event. It was a privilege to run for...
An overnight lane closure and temporary traffic signals will be in place on Bridge Road in Exeter tonight (Wednesday 26 April) and tomorrow evening (Thursday 27 April).
On both evenings, the signals will be in use from 8.30pm and up to 5.30am the following morning. The lane closure is needed to enable safe working during the installation of sockets for new traffic signals north of the Bascule Bridge, which will eventually replace the existing pedestrian crossing at the canal.
The next weekend closure of Bridge Road is planned to take place from 10pm on Friday 5 May until...

Ryley Walker is the reincarnation of the true American guitar player. That’s as much a testament to his roving, rambling ways, or the fact that his Guild D-35 guitar has endured a few stints in the pawnshop. The prolific guitarist is on the road with his band for a tour that is sure to showcase the self-deprecating and subtle humor of his lyrics as much as his stellar fingerpicking and the heavy musicianship of his band.
His second album Primrose Green, emerged to critical hosannas from the likes of NPR, Village Voice, Uncut, and Mojo – in the process, earning admiration of...
Hotly-tipped songsmith Luke Sital-Singh has been described by The Guardian as a ‘British Bon Iver’. Luke takes the template of Fleet Foxes, Neil Young and Dylan, but makes his own inimitable fresh folk sound.
Having just announced details of his new album Time Is A Riddle, to be released May 12th on Raygun Records / Red Essential, the Bristol-based singer-songwriter embarks on a UK headline tour this May.
The follow-up to his 2014 debut The Fire Inside, Time Is A Riddle was recorded in Attica Audio studio in Donegal with producer Tommy McLaughlin (Villagers). McLaughlin...

Mighty Force has awakened after 20 years. Exeter’s first dance music store was also a promoter and an influential record label that helped launch the careers of Aphex Twin, Tom Middleton and Matthew Herbert. To kick off the return, Mighty Force founder Mark Darby has assembled some of the DJ/Producers that made and played the soundtrack to those heady party days along with some of the original production companies that decorated and provided visuals for those early raves.
Everyone has come together to support charities that operate in the SW to support homeless people so your...
Best known as the lead singer of the progressive folk big band Bellowhead, who split in May 2016, Jon launched his solo career in Autumn 2016, touring the UK solo for the first time. Largely presenting the self-penned songs of his debut album, Painted Lady, as well as material from his remarkable dystopian follow-up, Songs From The Floodplain, Jon’s solo show also includes material from Bellowhead, his duo partnership, Spiers & Boden and his ambitious A Folk Song A Day project, in which he recorded 365 folk songs in one year.
New Zealand-born Hans Kellett – best known in his now hometown Berlin as half of the queer punk-chanson band Princessin Hans – gives an insight into the performance format of the Kabarett; a far cry from the associations many have from Bob Fosse’s Hollywood movie. The German form of Kabarett has always provided a fertile breeding ground for political satire and even direct resistance. Just one of a group of artistic forms called Kleinkunst (literally the ‘Little Arts’) it serves as a performance model bridging the gap between high art and popular culture. In this performative lecture, Hans...
Highly acclaimed singer-songwriter Lisbee Stainton will release her fifth studio album Then Up in April ahead of a nine-date headline UK tour starting right here.
In 2007, when she was just 18 years-old, London-based Lisbee became the first unsigned artist to play London’s O2 Arena. Soon after, 6Music’s Tom Robinson discovered Lisbee’s song Red, and his support subsequently led to Lisbee’s music being playlisted by BBC Radio 2.
Since then Lisbee has toured with such notable artists as Joan Armatrading, Paul Brady, Gretchen Peters, Paul Carrack and Seth Lakeman, who was so...
