RD&E has received NHS Improvement approval to proceed with a new clinical transformation programme. As well as fundamentally improving the way services and care are delivered to patients, the programme will see paper-based patient records at the RD&E becoming a thing of the past.

Exmouth watersports centre given green light

Queen’s Drive in Exmouth including associated facilities for water sports users such as a café, restaurant and retail spaces as well as associated car parking.

Members of East Devon District Council’s Development Management Committee have voted in favour of granting planning permission for the construction of a new water sports centre and facilities for water sports users such as a café, restaurant, retail spaces and car parking at Queen’s Drive in Exmouth.

The development also includes new stepped and ramped accesses to the beach.

The Dissenters Graveyard will be open to visitors between 11am and 4pm on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th June.

Visitors can:

Take the opportunity to walk through the nearly restored graveyard and browse through the range of information on the histories of the Graveyard, of Dissent, of the monuments and the people associated with site.

Hear about previous excavations including an investigation of an intact underground vault with visible burials.

Hear about the histories and sometimes the transatlantic connections of families represented in the Graveyard....

Tour of Britain Stage 2 marked by historic race through Victorian market

World class cyclists will race through the South Molton Pannier Market in September – the first time in the history of the modern Tour of Britain that it is has been routed through a building.

Stage 2 of the race will take place on Monday September 3, starting in the UK’s newest town, Cranbrook, in East Devon and finishing in Barnstaple, North Devon.

The route was announced at the 2018 OVO Energy Tour of Britain national launch in central London on Tuesday evening (5 June).

County Council unwraps new strategy to reduce plastic waste

Devon County Council has pledged to phase out its use of the most polluting single-use plastic products within two years.

The move is part of a new action plan the Council has developed to help cut the amount of single-use plastic waste in Devon.

The ‘Plastics Strategy’ outlines how various single-use plastic food and beverage packaging and tableware (such as cutlery and cups) will be removed from Council work locations by 2020.

Covent Garden comes to Exmouth

A taste of London comes to Exmouth next week, as the first in a series of theatre shows is streamed live from the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden.

Award winning cartoonist creates 9ft mural for Exeter care home residents

Cartoonist Tony Husband has created a 9ft mural for residents at RMBI Home Cadogan Court in Exeter. Well known for his cartoons in newspapers and magazines including Private Eye, Punch and The Times, Tony visited the Home on Thursday 10 May with dementia activist Gina Awad who supported the event. He spent the day drawing different focal points with the help of residents, which he later created into a large mural in the Home’s reception.
