Christians across Exeter are invited to tune into a LIVE online prayer gathering – which is thought to be the first of its kind in the county.

The broadcast called ‘Devon Awake’ is expected to see over one thousand Christians log on from across the region and tune in to this innovative gathering which is being streamed on a dedicated event website.

Exeter churches are being encouraged to join in online and pray, as well as network with other Christians through an online chat platform which will be hosted by a team of Church Online Pastors.

The broadcast will take place from 2nd – 6th July, 7.30pm nightly at www.devonawake.com and will include opportunities for viewers to join in with prayer for county-wide topics, there will also be special video inserts from national and local prayer leaders.

Exeter churches are also being encouraged to submit their own prayer requests to be prayed over during the broadcast.

The event is being organised by Rediscover Church in Northernhay Street, Exeter which already pioneers livestreaming events, broadcasting their weekly services LIVE to a local audience.

The event is one of many activities which is being run by the church to empower and release churches and Christians in Devon into a new season. It’s hoped that the LIVE broadcast will be one of many that will take place over the coming months and years.
Rediscover Church Lead Pastor Mark Pugh said,

‘We are so looking forward to joining with people from all over the county of Devon to pray. We believe prayer works and we expect the impact of Devon Awake to be felt way beyond the week itself. We believe God hears all our prayers and if our prayers were like social media posts, we would be confident that God sees each one, but by uniting our prayers together, it can be like getting the issues ‘trending’ in heaven.

‘We will be broadcasting from our permanent 24/7 prayer room in the centre of Exeter and many hundreds of people will be participating via their smart tv’s, computers or mobile devices. If you are praying for the light of Christ to shine across the county of Devon then why not tune in and join us over this Devon Awake week.’

It’s thought that the LIVE broadcast will be particularly attractive to those who are based in rural parts of Devon and unable to attend regular prayer meetings. Whilst others who are housebound and unable to get to a physical church building, will be able to join in through this online event.

Church Online Pastor Jason Ham added, ‘Through the Internet we have the amazing opportunity to bring people together. We live in a beautiful part of the world but getting to places is not always so easy – particularly in bad weather! I’m excited for this first ever Devon Awake broadcast and I believe this will be a significant time to connect with other Christians and press into God.’

The event is broadcast LIVE online at www.devonawake.com

The broadcast is 2nd – 6th July, 7.30pm nightly
