Housebuilder donates protective kit to local NHS

Regional housebuilder Persimmon Homes South West has stepped in to help the NHS by donating much-needed gloves and safety glasses.

Staff at Persimmon’s local office in Exeter have gathered all of the spare PPE normally used on building sites and handed it over to be utilised by doctors and nurses on the frontline as the battle against Covid-19 intensifies.

The equipment has been donated to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.

The NHS is in desperate need of all safety gear due to a global shortage, forcing some hospitals to try and source equipment independently...

The Donkey Sanctuary donates personal protection equipment to local NHS

The Donkey Sanctuary has donated personal protection equipment (PPE) to local NHS teams and social care providers in the South West, to help them deal with the coronavirus outbreak

In line with government guidelines, the charity asked its non-donkey-facing staff to work from home, as a result of less people on its sites, the organisation had spare PPE that they have donated to NHS workers and local organisations and groups providing community health care.

Exeter based, independent veterinary practice CityVets, are reassuring all pet owners that they are open for emergencies, patients requiring urgent treatment, medication and pet food throughout the pandemic, come what may.

New support service launched in Exeter to offer help during coronavirus outbreak

The Exeter Chiefs Foundation are today granting a six-figure sum to help back a new support service which has been launched in the city to help people through the current coronavirus outbreak.

Devon pilots new, first of its kind, health care apprenticeship in care homes

Devon’s pioneering new Nursing Associate Apprenticeship Programme was launched this month.

Nine apprentices, part funded by Devon County Council, will be employed by independent sector social care providers.

Nursing associates work with people of all ages and in a variety of settings within health and social care. They are vital as they contribute to the core work of nursing by supporting registered nurses.

Devon Air Ambulance will temporarily be responding to patients solely by critical care car but its critical care paramedics will still be able to respond to patients with their specialist skills and equipment.
