Exeter’s Judith Hamer selected as part of Standard Life GB Women’s Team for European Championships

The Standard Life GB Women’s Wheelchair Basketball Team is ready to send the world a warning signal at the 2013 European Championships (Frankfurt, 28 June-8 July 2013) with a young team selected to build upon last year’s Paralympic success.

The current European Bronze Medallists, Great Britain heads to Frankfurt at the end of the month with Head Coaches Nigel Smith and Joe Jayaratne having combined a strong mix of experience and fresh blood to create a formidable future threat.

With an average age of 24, the team includes three new faces from that of London 2012 with 14...

St Nicholas Catholic Primary School's fayre takes place between noon and 2.30pm.

Entertainment includes a bouncy castle, face painting, stalls, cupcake decorating, ice-cream, barbecue, toys, drinks and much more.

If you are able to help with donations for the fayre, the school are looking for good quality toys and books, new items for the rainbow stall, new summer items for hampers, bottles of wine and boxes of chocolates; or if any businesses can donate something for the promise auction, please email Michelle Johnson aamjohnson@btinternet.com

Nuffield Health Exeter Hospital is set to launch a unique service to local patients who require common surgical procedures.

Newtown Art Café to feature music from the J Strings and Exeter Young Strings

Newtown Community Association is gearing up for an Art Café, which will take place this Sunday, 9 June at the main hut in Belmont Park from 2pm-4pm.

As well as a painting activity with Exeter Scrapstore, there will be live music mostly from young string player 'The J Strings' – which is the St James School string group – Exeter Young Strings, and also a young string band will be doing a few tunes.

After that, there will be an open session for anyone to play a few tunes.

Unite stage peaceful protest outside Exeter John Lewis

Members of the national trade union Unite staged a peaceful protest outside John Lewis in Exeter yesterday lunchtime as part of a national effort to put pressure on stockists of Siemens products.
