Over 900 run new city centre course

The 14th annual Michelmores charity race attracted 920 entrants to run around a brand new city centre course starting in Cathedral Yard and finishing at Exeter Castle.

Started by celebrity chef Michael Caines, the men’s race was won by Simon Longthorpe with Emma Hitchins the first women home. Karen Cook and Franks Reay won the veterans competitions while solicitors Foot Anstey won the corporate event. Otterton Mill to appear in BBC's Celebrity Antiques Roadtrip

TV cameras recently descended on East Devon's Otterton Mill for the filming of a new series of the BBC's Celebrity Antiques Roadtrip . The Mill provided a stop-off point for antiques expert James Braxton and celebrity chef Phil Vickery, after a day spent in Devon hunting for antique treasures.

Number of people claiming Job Seekers Allowance in Devon falls for third consecutive month

Devon County Council have announced that the number of people claiming Job Seekers Allowance (JSA) in Devon has fallen for the third consecutive month in line with the usual trend seen at this time of the year.

The claimant count across the county was down by 512 from 8,849 in April to 8,337 in May.

Even though the Devon figures reflect the national trend, the month-on-month decrease of 5.8% has occurred at a faster rate in Devon compared to the UK (2.8%).

Jones Lang LaSalle secures consent for redevelopment of former St Loyes School House

Leading property consultants Jones Lang LaSalle has secured outline consent for the redevelopment of the former St Loyes School House on Millbrook Lane.

The School House site is currently owned by the St. Loye’s Foundation and is located in one of the prime areas of Exeter along Topsham Road. The site has been standing empty for almost five years but now has consent for a residential scheme comprising five secluded dwellings, ranging from three bed to five bed units.

A new perspective on art that touches all the senses

Exeter School is to exhibit artwork produced by WESC Foundation pupils and students for the second year running. Local Transport Board invites comments on draft programme

Consultation on major transport schemes proposed for the Heart of the South West Local Enterprise Partnership area (Devon, Somerset, Plymouth and Torbay) will continue for the next fortnight.

The Heart of the South West Local Transport Board (LTB) will manage the funding to be devolved from the Department for Transport for major local transport schemes. It has been allocated an indicative sum of around £40.6 million over four years.
