The Killerton Kitchen restaurant has won gold in the prestigious ‘Taste of the West’ awards celebrating fantastic local food and drink in the South West.

Community fund available to Exeter groups

RGB Building Supplies’ Well Built Community Fund has been giving away £1,000 worth of building materials every other month to various different groups since its launch in May 2014.

Exeter City Council’s Housing Revenue Account stands to lose nearly £8m as a result of the cut in Council rents imposed in George Osborne’s recent budget.

Having agreed a rent formula with councils two years ago that was designed to allow them to plan their housing finances with some certainty for the next ten years, the Government has now scrapped this agreement and instead imposed four years of rent cuts.

This will wipe £7.9m from the budget the city council uses to provide services to its tenants and invest in their homes.

Exeter charity extends apprenticeship scheme

Leading local advice charity, Exeter Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB), has announced the extension of its successful apprenticeship scheme.

The charity, based in Dix’s Field, launched its first apprenticeship scheme in April 2014 when for the first time it recruited two Business Administration and Customer Service apprentices through Exeter College.

Remembering Adam Stansfield

It will be five years on 10 August since Adam succumbed to bowel cancer.

The charity set up in his name to raise awareness of bowel cancer in the young and help promote a healthy lifestyle through football continues to work hard to achieve its aims.

Since we began we have helped over 5,000 children through supporting PowerChair football in Devon, Downs Syndrome football in Devon, FA Junior Football Leaders Awards in Devon, Somerset and Herefordshire. Pedestrian killed in Devon hit and run named

The pedestrian who died following a hit and run incident on the A380 in Newton Abbot on Sunday 26 July has been identified.

The victim has been named as Gareth Robert Toms, a 30-year-old from Paignton, who was also known as Frank Hunter.

Police were called at around 1.30am following reports of a collision involving a pedestrian on the A380 Torquay Road near the junction with Aller Brake Road.

Prior to the incident, police had received reports of a man walking in the road, from the direction of Penn Inn roundabout.
