The Killerton Kitchen restaurant has won gold in the prestigious ‘Taste of the West’ awards celebrating fantastic local food and drink in the South West.

The judges were highly impressed with the food and service, putting the restaurant on par with other’s in Devon such as the River Exe Cafe and Two Bridges.

Killerton is the only National Trust property to have a full-service bistro restaurant where diners can enjoy high-quality, home-cooked dishes and afternoon teas. Special evening fine-dining events are held once a month.

Changing seasonal menus include ingredients sourced on or local to the 6,400 acre estate. Tenant farmers Burrow Farm supply award-winning meat, organic milk and dairy goods are supplied by Ashclyst Dairy and vegetables from Broadclyst Community Farm. Clyston Mill, a National Trust watermill just a few miles from the restaurant, grinds the flour for Killerton’s bread and cakes.

David Ashford, Food and Beverage Manager at Killerton, said: “Winning a gold ‘Taste of the West’ award puts us up there with some of the best restaurants in the South West and shows the industry that National Trust eateries can be more than just cream teas – though we do that well too! Come along and see why we’re so special.”

The National Trust is a charity and money raised through Killerton’s catering outlets is reinvested back into the estate to help with its conservation.

Championing and developing the region’s exceptional food and drink identity since 1991, Taste of the West is a regional food and drink trade membership organisation for the South West with HRH Prince Charles as patron.
