It’s the final countdown! Time is fast running out to enrol in the Eighties-themed Twilight Walk on Saturday 8th July.

Remember, this is an exclusively female event: on this occasion, sisters are doing it for themselves! Join up today and raise loadsamoney for Exeter’s well known and popular local charity Hospiscare, an organisation which itself started in the Eighties (in 1982, to be precise).

The Twilight Walk is a 5-mile or new 10-mile themed sponsored walk around Exmouth Seafront with entertainment provided all along the route. The walk starts from The Maer, Exmouth....

Great Big Walk visits Addaction RISE

WALKERS of Eden Project’s Great Big Walk started their day’s journey at Addaction RISE in Exeter, sharing breakfast with volunteers, clients and staff at the drug and alcohol charity to hear how it supports the community.

The Great Big Walk started at Batley, where Jo Cox was MP, and five different teams headed off on a 21 day journey to Cornwall, London, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Along their route they are stopping at community projects and initiatives to spend time with and celebrate the people who go the extra mile to bring communities together.

WH Smith Exeter staff and customers to walk 30 miles for mental health

Staff and customers of WH Smith Exeter store are set to trek across Dartmoor, completing 30miles over 2 days on 10th/11th June 2017 in aid of mental health charity Mind.

Richard Boyter, 33, who works for WHSmith in Exeter, is walking with staff and customers to raise £1000 by trekking across Dartmoor.

Starting at Fingle Bridge with the Finish at Bovey Castle. Richard has been inspired by the company's 225 fundraising campaign but this has become a more personal challenge after experiencing issues with his own mental health in the past year.

For the second year running, Educated Recruitment are dusting off their walking boots ready to walk 19 miles for charity, Macmillan Cancer Support Following the huge success last year in fundraising for CATS (charity for Tay Sachs), the team have planned a 19 mile hike starting from Maidencombe, Torquay and finishing in Totnes. A team of walkers from leading local advice charity, Citizens Advice Exeter, is joining forces with the local legal profession and advice sector on Monday 5 June 2017 to take part in the Exeter Legal Walk.

Exeter Quay footbridge reopens

The Mallison footbridge at Exeter Quay has re-opened to pedestrians and cyclists following temporary repairs to the structure.

Exeter City Council was forced to close the bridge earlier in the month because of safety concerns after an inspection revealed some rotten timbers.

The bridge carries pedestrians and cyclists over a leat beside the River Exe, from nearby Exeter Antiques Centre on the Quay to Samuel Jones Smoke & Ale House on the opposite bank.

The Council will look at a permanent replacement as part of a potential enhancement to the riverside walk....
