Sarah Schmitz, House Steward at A la Ronde, the quirky 16-sided National Trust property near Exmouth, is seeking volunteers to join the friendly team.

Exeter Axhayes Cats Protection Adoption Centre are looking for volunteers to help with a collection over the weekend of 21 - 23 March 2014.

The centre are looking for people who are willing to stand and rattle a collection tin for a few hours over the weekend.

It is an in-store event therefore you will be indoors out of the cold.

Charity volunteers clock up 26,000 hours

Wildlife charity volunteers have given more hours than ever before.

Volunteers at Paignton Zoo Environmental Park and Living Coasts in Torquay gave more than 26,000 hours during 2013 - equivalent to nearly 3 whole years, 155 weeks or more than 1,000 full days.

For the year ending in October 2013, 166 volunteers gave 26,074.5 hours – 1,932.25 more than in 2012.

An Exmouth Hospiscare shop is looking for creative and energetic people to join its team of hard working volunteers.

Volunteering is a great way for people, especially school leavers and college students, to gain some work experience and learn a wide range of skills to add to their CV’s for future employment.

The charity shop, situated in the Magnolia Centre, Exmouth, is currently manned by a friendly team of 12 volunteers aged between 30 and 82.

Exmouth RNLI volunteers prepare for Open Day

The biggest event on the Exmouth Lifeboat Fundraising Team’s calendar, the lifeboat station Open Day will take place on Sunday 18 August this year. Situated on Queens Drive, the event will be held between 10am and 4pm.

Dedicated volunteers are currently busy organising stalls, raffle prizes and making produce to sell in order to raise money towards the launch and recovery vehicle appeal. As the new Shannon-class lifeboat is due early next year, this will be an opportunity to raise a large chunk of the £90,000 remainder needed for the vehicle.

Volunteers thanked for Stover Country Park Green Flag success

Stover Country Park, near Newton Abbot, has held a special thank you barbecue for its volunteers to celebrate ten years of receiving the Green Flag Award.

Volunteers work hard throughout the year alongside the Country Park Rangers and contribute over 6,000 man hours per year to help maintain the park, its habitats and wildlife.

Royal recognition for Devon’s top volunteers

Two of Devon’s top volunteer groups have received the Royal seal of approval this week as they were honoured with the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.

The Tavistock and District Outdoor Education Forum (TDOEF) and The Dawlish Gardens Trust were amongst 117 groups in the UK to receive the prestigious accolade, which is the highest award given to volunteer groups and has a status equivalent to the MBE.
