The Buturi Project is a small charity made up of like-minded volunteers, helping a remote village in Tanzania, on the shore of Lake Victoria, where they are struggling with poverty in near intolerable conditions.

Like many parts of sub-Saharan Africa, Buturi has suffered from the twin disasters of AIDS and drought.

Exeter Citizens Advice Bureau is looking for volunteers and will be holding a recruitment fair at their office on Wednesday 3 December.

They will be recruiting for a range of roles including:

• Advisor – Give generalist advice to clients. • Gateway assessor – Identify issues, next steps and handle emergencies • Reception and information guide – meet people as they arrive and help them access self help resources.

On Saturday 27 September, members of the public are invited to come along to the Imperial Recreation Ground slipway in Exmouth at 1pm for a couple of hours of litter picking followed by a relaxing cruise on the Estuary with free buffet (places limited).

The grape harvest is now underway at Devon's largest vineyard, Pebblebed.

This year, the winemakers, based at Clyst St Mary are all set for another bumper harvest following the great weather this summer.

A group of volunteers from Culm Valley Young Farmers Club are donning their work gear for a day of hard graft at one of Devon’s rural communities.

The group have kindly agreed to help Devon County Council’s Public Rights of Way team carry out some important repair and restoration work at the footbridge over the River Culm in Hemyock.

Exeter Deaf Academy’s College students and staff will return in September to a refreshed entrance, thanks to the help of Michelmores LLP.

An elegant tea party was held at Exeter University to say thank to hundreds of Hospiscare volunteers.

Glasses of bubbly elderflower were served along with pretty cupcakes, dainty sandwiches and cakes at the glamorous event attended by 450 volunteers from all over Exeter, East and Mid Devon.
