We are about to start two studies looking at the effects of different exercise training interventions on the health profile of pre-menopausal women.

Visitors to Rugby World Cup 2015 will be greeted with world class customer service from businesses in Exeter and the Heart of Devon.

Exeter is hosting three rugby matches at Sandy Park in September and October, attracting international and VIP visitors to Exeter and the Heart of Devon.

Free training for community energy groups

The first of five, free training events for community energy groups was staged on 2 December, as part of RegenSW’s Community Energy Accelerator Project funded by the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation and Devon County Council.

Representatives from 14 community energy groups in Devon interested in developing wind, solar, hydro or biomass renewable energy projects gathered in Exeter to receive expert legal advice on group structures and landowner agreements from Stephens Scown Solicitors, who provided sponsorship for the event.

The Skills Group Hair Academy in Exeter is holding an open day on Monday 10 November for potential hairdressing and barbering apprentices and salon owners who may be considering taking on an apprentice.

The event is part of Skills Group’s current ‘Learn a trade and get paid’ campaign to raise awareness of apprenticeship opportunities.

Over 1,200 young people aged 14-25 will get the chance to ‘Have a go’ at a range of skills and discover new career opportunities when ‘The Skills Show Experience’ arrives in Exeter this week.

Runners keen to enter next year’s London Marathon can apply to local Exeter based charity Hospiscare for a chance to take part.

Hospiscare has five golden bond places which are guaranteed entries available after the race has closed to the general public.

“We are very excited to have these places,” said Celia Wilkinson, Hospiscare running and challenge co-ordinator.
