CASA officially opens in Topsham

A ribbon cutting ceremony was carried out by the Lord Mayor of Exeter, Councillor Olwen Foggin, to officially open CASA, a new independent furnishings and giftware store in Topsham.

Queenstreet Carpets & Furnishings, a family-owned company trading in Exeter for nearly half a century, hosted the summer launch event to celebrate the opening of their second new store inviting customers, suppliers and local businesses.

More than 100 guests enjoyed wines by award-winning Pebblebed Wines and canapés by Posh Nosh. A charity raffle with prizes kindly donated by local businesses...

CASA signs sponsorship deal with Topsham Rugby Club

Newly opened independent furnishings and giftware store, CASA, announces it has signed a two-year sponsorship deal with Topsham Rugby Club.

Exeter-based family-owned retailer Queenstreet Carpets & Furnishings, operated by brothers, Gary and Mark Dixie, opened their second new shop, ‘CASA’ in Topsham on the 1st May.Topsham Rugby Club is a registered charity and the Dixie family has taken out front of shirt sponsorship for the Under 7’s – 16’s, together with rear of shirt for the 1st and 2nd senior teams for two seasons.

Patronal Flower Festival

The Festival takes place on the 16th, 17th and 18th July in St. Margaret’s Church, Topsham.

We will be open from 10.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. on the Thursday and Friday and until 5.00 p.m. on the Saturday.

The funds raised this year will be shared between St. Margaret’s Church, Action on Hearing Loss and the Exeter Royal Academy for the Deaf.

The theme is SOUNDS WE LOVE, a challenging subject given the charities chosen and exhibitors are coming up with an interesting range of titles!

There will be refreshments! Coffees, lunches and teas!

An Exeter-based independent retailer has opened a new furnishings store called ‘CASA’ located opposite Topsham’s quay area, formerly known as ‘Brights of Nettlebed’.

Family-owned Queenstreet Carpets & Furnishings based in Alphington, has been operating in Exeter for nearly 50 years. The expanding business run by brothers, Gary & Mark Dixie opened ‘CASA’ its second furnishings store on the Strand in Topsham on 1st May.

Expanding local independent retailer signs lease on second shop

Exeter-based independent retailer Queenstreet Carpets and Furnishings, based in Alphington, announces it has signed the lease on a second store in Topsham which is to open on the 1st May.

The expanding family-owned business was founded by the late Malcolm Dixie and his wife Nikki in 1968 and was originally based in Queen Street, Exeter. Dementia drop-in centre opens in Topsham

A new information dementia drop in centre has been opened at Topsham Pharmacy and is open on Thursdays between 10am and noon.

Run by volunteers, it is somewhere people to come to find out what support maybe available to them and generally answer any questions they may have on dementia.

Sallie Rutledge who runs The Mede and Seaward House (holiday and day support for people with dementia) in Topsham says: "There's little help at times for the carer and they can feel very isolated.

"We are hoping carers will come to us and tell us what they need....

Police appeal for help to identify body

Police in Exeter are appealing for information to help identify a woman whose body was found in Topsham earlier today (Friday 2 January).

Police were called at around noon to the dock area near to St Margaret’s Church on Ferry Road, in Topsham, following the discovery of a woman’s body.

It is believed that the woman had been in the water for sometime but the death is being treated as unexplained.

The woman is described as being, approximately 60-75 years of age white, approximately 5’4” in height and medium to large build with blue/hazel eyes.

Charity shop returns £1,000 found in donated boots

A Hospiscare charity shop manager saved Christmas for a Topsham family after finding nearly £1,000 in notes stuffed in a donated pair of men’s boots.

The £980 was still in wads with bands around them after an elderly man had collected them from the bank to give to his family at Christmas.

He stored the money in the boots then forgot and donated them to the local Topsham Hospiscare shop.

Jackie Hulin, shop manager said: “A gentleman brought in two bags, one of clothes and another with boots and he gift aided them.
