Police hunt for missing Tiverton man

Police are asking for the public’s help to trace a 28-year-old man missing from Tiverton. Officers are concerned for the welfare of Matthew Foot who was last seen at his home in Loxbeare around 5pm on Thursday 3 July. The disappearance is out of character and police are urging anyone who sees him to contact them. He is described as white, of medium to large build with brown hair and stubble. Woman treated for burns after Tiverton fire

A woman has been treated for burns after a kitchen at a property in Tiverton caught on fire.

Appliances from Tiverton, Bampton and Cullompton were mobilised by Fire Control to the incident, which took place at Lime Road, Tiverton earlier today.

On arrival, at 12.04, crews found a small fire within the ground floor kitchen involving electrical equipment out on arrival. The fire caused 10% damage to the kitchen and smoke damage to rest of the property.

Crews ventilated the property using a positive pressure ventilation fan.

Police dog helps find vulnerable man

Police Dog Sharpe has been praised for his work in finding a missing vulnerable man in Tiverton, this morning (Wednesday, June 18, 2014).

Sharpe was called with his handler PC Lee Crampton to the search to find a man with dementia who had been reported missing in Tiverton at around 8pm on Tuesday, June 17. After an initial search of the man’s property proved negative, a search around Long Mead, Tiverton, was widened at around 3am when Sharpe was called to the scene. Police fund new CCTV cameras in Tiverton

Devon and Cornwall Police has donated £2,500 to Mid Devon District Council in an initiative that will see an upgrade to Tiverton town’s CCTV system.

There are currently sixteen CCTV cameras plotted around the town centre and it is hoped that this will be increased by a further two. Images from each camera are sent via a fibre optic cable to the CCTV operating room and recorded on a digital video recorder which can be used in criminal investigations. Limetree Cross in Tiverton is currently closed in both directions between the Canal Hill junction and the Newte's Hill junction, because of flooding.

Police axe half of public enquiry offices

Devon and Cornwall Police are expected to close more than half of their public front offices in a controversial bid to save money. Across the two counties the force is expected to fully close 10 out of 21 public front offices while the Newquay desk will only open during summer. The public desks at Exmouth, Tiverton, Honiton, Okehampton, Newton Abbot, Totnes Falmouth, Penzance, Launceston, Bude and Liskeard will all be closed under the plans.
