WESC hosts Exeter Chamber's summer networking lunch

WESC Foundation (WESC) played host to Exeter Chamber of Commerce’s June networking lunch, with 70 local businesses and professionals in attendance.

WESC is a school and college for young people and adults aged 5-25, and a specialist centre for visual impairment, based on Topsham Road, Exeter. Pre-lunch, guests were offered an optional tour of the facilities at the 14-acre campus to meet learners; find out more about the charity and the important work and services they provide.

Warning to drivers as police launch summer drink drive campaign

Devon and Cornwall Police today launched their summer drink drive campaign.

Drivers are being reminded that the consequences of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs can be devastating.

Throughout the month-long operation, drivers can expect to be tested if they are involved in a collision or if stopped for an offence. Routine stop checks will also result in drivers being tested.

Throughout 2015 there were a total of 1,988 arrests for drink or drug driving in Devon and Cornwall. This was an increase of 5% on the same period in 2014.

As part of our schedule of special summer classes, we're offering a lovely session of knotty bracelet making! Perfect for gifting as friendship bracelets or keeping all to yourself.

We’ll be teaching one of our favourite designs, a bracelet made from knotting and beads and a button clasp. There will also be the chance to learn how to make an ever useful sliding knot fastening, as seen on our knotty bracelet kits. The great thing about this workshop is that knotting is one of the trickiest things to learn without having somebody show you, so a couple of hours spent being taught it...

Dog beach ban starts on May 1

East Devon District Council has improved information and signs advising visitors and residents about the seasonal dog bans on some areas of our beaches.

This year, for the first time, the council is using temporary stencils at the beach entrances so that the ban areas are clear to everyone. The seasonal ban lasts from May 1st to September 30th each year.

Flybe to extend sunshine flights from Exeter

Flybe will offer year-round sunshine holiday flights at Exeter Airport following a deal with Regional & City Airports (RCA), the airport management division of Rigby Group PLC, Exeter Airport’s owner.
