Chiefs side to face Northampton

Rob Baxter wants his Exeter Chiefs side to reinforce their “traditional qualities” as they look to become the first side this season to do the double over reigning Aviva Premiership champions Northampton Saints.

The Chiefs remain the only club to have toppled the league leaders on home soil this season, emerging victorious from their clash back in November, and the two sides will lock horns again this Sunday at a sold-out Sandy Park (2pm).

With the Saints currently riding high at the summit, ten points clear of next best Saracens, the Chiefs know it will be their toughest...

Hooley 'a great fit' says Baxter

Exeter Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter believes new signing Will Hooley is a “great fit” for his side after he today sealed a move from Aviva Premiership counterparts Northampton Saints.

The 21-year-old fly-half is the latest addition in what is proving a busy period of squad strengthening from Baxter ahead of the 2015/16 season.

Already the Devon club have brought in Geoff Parling, Ollie Woodburn, Michele Campagnaro, Ollie Atkins and Shaun Malton - and Hooley’s arrival will further boost what is looking like another powerful mix at Sandy Park next term.

Brown agrees new Chiefs deal

Prop Alex Brown insists Exeter has become ‘home from home’ for him and that he was more than happy to extend his stay with the Chiefs for a further two years at least.

Signed during the summer of 2013 from Championship side Doncaster Knights, the Rochford-born tight-head has settled well to life in the Westcountry and has established himself as a proven force within the Exeter front-row.

An LV= Cup winner last term, Brown was also part of this season’s squad that came within a whisker of reclaiming their crown against Saracens at Northampton a fortnight ago.

Baxter's team management secrets revealed

Exeter Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter was the special guest at an event which celebrated the launch of a new business magazine for Devon.

Business and Professional Life is a quality, quarterly publication partnered by a daily digital platform.

The new initiative is the result of a link-up between Archant, the publishers of Devon Life, and The Daily UK, which owns two citizen journalism websites, The Exeter Daily and The Plymouth Daily.

It is a ground-breaking alliance and thought to be the first time in the UK that an independent digital publisher has joined forces...

Businesses from across Devon attended the launch of a new magazine for the county at Sandy Park, the home of the Exeter Chiefs.

Aussie lock joins Chiefs

Newcomer Ollie Atkins says he is ready to start a new chapter in his career after agreeing terms on a two-year deal with Aviva Premiership high-flyers Exeter Chiefs.

The Australian-born lock, who will head to the Westcountry after two seasons with Edinburgh Rugby, is Rob Baxter’s fourth capture ahead of next season, joining the likes of Geoff Parling, Ollie Woodburn and Michele Campagnaro at Sandy Park.

His arrival is somewhat timely as it comes in the same week that current Chiefs skipper Dean Mumm announced he would be leaving Devon at the end of the current campaign to...

Chiefs trounce Welsh to go second

For 20 minutes it was a decent enough contest, but then Exeter Chiefs kicked into gear and winless London Welsh simply had no answer to the might of the in-form Devonians.

Rob Baxter’s side steamrollered their way to second in the Aviva Premiership with a nine-try destruction of the Exiles. It wasn’t vintage stuff from the Chiefs – even though the scoreline suggests otherwise – but it was still more than enough to clock up an 11th league win of the season.

Free-scoring No.8 Thomas Waldrom added two more tries to his seasonal tally – he’s now on 12 and still top of the tree...

Exeter Chiefs will be looking to maintain their winning sequence in the Aviva Premiership when they play host to rivals Bath at a sold-out Sandy Park today (Saturday 3:15pm). Successive victories over Newcastle Falcons and Harlequins have ensured Rob Baxter's men remain firmly in the mix at the top end of the table, but with a clutch of clubs equally well placed around them, the need to secure vital league points has never been more apparent. Standing in the way, however, of Devon's finest will be second-placed Bath, who themselves have suffered a blip in form with back-to-back defeats...

Slade earns Baxter's praise

Henry Slade underlined his growing stature in the Aviva Premiership as his 27-point haul helped Exeter Chiefs to a 32-21 victory away to Harlequins on Saturday.

The young fly-half played an instrumental role for the Devon club, scoring a try, two conversions and six penalties as the Chiefs netted their first league double of the campaign at the Twickenham Stoop.

It was another highly polished performance from the 21-year-old, who together with fellow youngsters Sam Hill and Jack Nowell provided an exciting and powerful midfield combination for the Chiefs.

Baxter: Italian star has the X-Factor

Exeter Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter believes new signing Michele Campagnaro can help add some additional ‘X-Factor’ to his side’s back division next season.

Having already bolstered his options with the recruitment of both Geoff Parling and Ollie Woodburn in recent weeks, Baxter has ventured a little further afield for his third new capture who joins from Rabo ProDirect 12 side Benetton Treviso.

As always, the Chiefs supremo and his coaching team have monitored Campagnaro’s performance for some time and having put together a detailed assessment of the Mirano-born back, they...
