Prayers to be said for community in mourning

Prayers will be said this weekend for an Exeter community in mourning over the death of a 12-year-old boy.

The youngster died after a collision with a lorry on Topsham Road, close to Countess Wear roundabout on Thursday.

He was taken to Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The lorry driver was uninjured.

The road was closed for five hours while serious collision investigators carried out an examination of the scene.

Appeal after woman is stabbed in Tiverton

In the early evening of 29th August police attended the Old Railway Line, Cowleymoor, Tiverton, following a report that a 27 year old female had been stabbed at that location by a male known to her.

The female is currently receiving treatment and her injuries are not life threatening. Enquiries are ongoing to locate the male. This was an incident between two people known to each other.

Tributes to boy who died

A community was today in mourning after the death of a 12-year-old boy following a collision with a lorry in Exeter.

Flowers were laid at the scene of the accident on the junction of Topsham Road and the Countess Wear roundabout.

Among the heartfelt messages was one which read: “The little lad with the biggest, cheesiest smile. Taken far too soon. RIP little fella. Bunches, Shannon, Alfie and Ellie xxxxx”.

Teenager witnessed 'horrific scene' following collision

A teenager has told The Exeter Daily how she witnessed the horrific scene following the accident in which a 12-year-old boy died.

The girl, who has asked not to be named, said she was returning from work when she saw paramedics treating the boy.

She said: “There was a lot of commotion and emergency vehicles on the scene, and they had put a large white sheet to cover up what was going on.

“I’ve never seen anything like that before so it must have been pretty horrific.”

Police attended a road traffic collision at around 3.10pm on Topsham Road, near Countess Wear.

A motorcyclist was left in a serious condition following a collision on the A35 near Honiton. Police, ambulance and the air ambulance attended the incident which took place at 12.50pm at the junction of Ramsden Lane, Offwell. The collision involved a black Suzuki motorcycle, being ridden by a man in his fifties, and a red Toyota Yaris, being driven by a man in his eighties. Police attended a serious road traffic collision on the A361 North Devon link road on Friday morning, 22nd August, at around 11.30am near South molton.

Three vehicles were involved in the collison, a Peugeot 206, a Triumph Spitfire and a Renault Megane.

Police in East Devon are appealing for information following a fatal road traffic collision on the A35 in Kilmington. The incident happened at approximately 9.09 last night (Thursday 21 August), on the A35 at the area adjacent to the bus shelter and the Old Inn Public House car park in Kilmington.

A single vehicle (Volkswagen Polo) travelling towards Honiton was in collision with a pedestrian.
